Re: Trade targets 2019

Is it OK that I want them to trade for Jarrod Dyson, or is that ignorant? Or, is it OK to want to trade for him, but it's ignorant because I want him to lead off, get on base and steal right away so that we have a chance to score a run in the first inning each time he does? Also, I don't even know i...

Re: Kimbrel?

I love that even when we have owners who don't want to spend we are still signing a big free agent every year. And that's not meant to be sarcastic. This has a good chance to blow up like Heyward and Darvish, but I'd rather them just spend money than prospects on trying to find a closer. Man, they'...

Re: ChiCargo Cubs - AKA that bad man can't hurt you anymore

That was quick: https://twitter.com/danialvarez_16/status/1135522689232330753 I wonder if someone is going on the IL? Javy maybe? Maybe, but if not I would just assume Jim Adduci is going back down. Left handed outfielder replacing a left handed outfielder. Yeah, pretty sure that's all it is. The p...

Get home Sunday night, drive 62 miles to Atlantic City and then back sometime on Monday or Tuesday morning doesn't seem that crazy, right?

Re: Cubs TV broadcast rights

Keeping Len and JD is the biggest part of all this. As for the extra money, if true, it's going to have to be used for extensions, right? Like, the free agent crop is going to suck if I remember correctly. Unless Betts is a free agent after this season? I guess Rendon, but he seems to be a lucrative...

Re: Nico: Hairline fracture, out at least another month

Good to see we have some synergy going up and down the organization from the majors to the minors with misdiagnosing injuries To be fair to the Cubs, I wouldn't necessarily call this a "misdiagnosis" because hairline fractures can be very difficult to discover. Sometimes a person doesn't ...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

how long before we stop comparing major league athletes who are at the top 1% of the world at their profession to our lame ass 9-5 selves and pretend it's somehow a meaningful comparison Not just yet. So, how long? Dude is getting a divorce. Let's go. he's got a sub 600 OPS this year. You can wait....

I really don't care who is at fault. Divorces happen. Wondering for those who have gotten divorced, how long do you get to be away from your job while dealing with it? Like is Zobrist gone for more than a month, or does the dude need to get back to work? how long before we stop comparing major leag...

Re: NL Central: Vaunted Defending Champion Brewers and others

Brewer fans think he’s going to be a superstar, I don’t see more than a Starlin/Lemaheiu type player. To be fair, I thought the same thing about Gleyber Torres then he showed up and hit the same amount of home runs in 123 major league games that it took him to hit in 373 minor league games. Basebal...

I know I sound like Jim Hendry, but I want that consistent leadoff hitter so bad. A guy who gets on base and has some speed.

Basically, I miss Dexter.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Marginal improvement is still important. If the playoffs are a "crapshoot", it's best to tilt the odds in their favor. The problem is marginal improvement doesn't translate into marginal financial gains. "We're good/great" isn't a justification for not getting better. But (maybe...

Re: Addison Russell

We know why big groups of fans give standing O's to players such as Josh Hader and Addison Russell, but I still can't believe they do. I would never, ever stand up and cheer for Russell if I was at a game. It's a direct reflection on anybody who does, in my opinion. Not to get political as I get pol...

https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/1123379890001260555 Boy, that story about the Cubs cracking down on non-bootlickers really looks more and more likely with all of these doughy beat slobs so readily hurling themselves onto landmines like this. The only reason why this might not be true, is I have a hard time believing somebody like Gordon wouldn't love the opportunity to bury them if he and his other colleagues were told what to write and what not to write. I also don't think guys like Bruce would stay quiet about it. I, of course, don't ...

Do we have a lot of evidence of batters not being ok with pitchers showing emotion, especially in a hypocritical sense? I totally get where jersey's coming from in terms of not wanting to be embarrassed, but I think at this level it only adds to the intrigue/drama of the game. These guys are the be...
