Re: Addison Russell

I for sure, no joke, think Addison Russell is a really bad offensive player and I think he's only getting worse. If he ever gets his slugging percentage near .400 maybe I will think he's average. ETA: He has seven XBH since July 1 and two total in his last 25 games. He doesn't have one this month. H...

Re: Addison Russell

Learned last week he is better than league average for shortstops or something.

Don't care. He sucks. Should have traded him for Machado.

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

Still can’t believe some of you have doubts about him being a star.

This is just the start.

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

Also, screw everybody for talking about this in the David Bote thread. Very disrespectful to a future Hall of Famer.

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

Russell is at a 93 wRC+ this season. So, higher than that career number mentioned earlier. I don't get how any of this works. The dude sucks on offense this season, right? Anybody slugging .374 has to suck on offense. Alcides Escobar has a career OBP of .291. They aren't in the same conversation. R...

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

Alcides Escobar has a career wRC+ of 69, while Russell is at 91. That's an even bigger difference than 2017 and 2018 Anthony Rizzo. I think you might be underrating Russell's bat just a tad. What is Russell these days? I assume that takes in account his first season? Because he's gotten much more w...

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

I'd love to see a list of such guys. Just go find the next Nick Ahmed or a younger version of Alcides Escobar and bat them ninth. Alcides Escobar has a career wRC+ of 69, while Russell is at 91. That's an even bigger difference than 2017 and 2018 Anthony Rizzo. I think you might be underrating Russ...

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

Russell is an above average everyday player who is 24. He isn't crappy. That's a laughable package for Trout, but he isn't crappy. Russell is about to start getting expensive and plays great defense and doesn't do horsefeathers on offense. I can find that guy a ton cheaper and get value for a guy t...

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

Russell, Happ, Almora and prospects for Mike Trout? Cmon guys Yeah, that might not even get half of Trout. Why would a team trade the best player of this generation for a crappy Russell, crappy Almora, Happ and some not top-5 MLB prospects? Russell is an above average everyday player who is 24. He ...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1023963859873357824 Alos, that sounds suspiciously like a Heyman CYA tweet. I bet the Cubs and several other teams are in the same demographic. Yeah, this feels like one of those instances in which he was talking to somebody in the industry who brought this ...

Gil Meche actually did that a while back, retiring and giving up like $12 million.

I really hope you are correct, but I'd still be surprised if he pitches again this season.

ETA: I'm just not at all confident he's going to get through these side sessions and then also not feel any pain during his rehab starts.

Re: Regular Season Rumors

Lol the Cardinals are releasing Greg Holland. Get him, Theo. I’m only mostly joking. Would love to see him succeed with the Cubs after imploding with the Cards. I’m sure he won’t drop to us though, and I’m not sure where he’d fit on the roster. He's not going to be claimed, I can't imagine, so he w...

Sounds like we are $14 million under and we are taking on about $4 million, so still sitting good.

Re: Cole Hamels

CAVEAT: I know this probably isn't a real thing. But. Hamels strikes me as the kinda guy who has been more or less playing out the string down in Texas. They haven't been in contention in forever, he got his big contract, etc. Bring him to a playoff team, give him a shot at cracking an October rota...

Assuming it's not a career altering injury, KB getting hurt for a while will end up being a blessing in disguise. We would have totally traded Bote for a rental.

Re: Regular Season Rumors

I know he's been pretty bad this year, but would the Cubs be interested in Danny Duffy? I’d hope not. He’s still owed ~$50 million. Maybe that’s a scenario where the more the Cubs give up, the more KC eats his contract and vice versa. That would be tough to do, though. If they don't give up anythin...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

Is it ignorant of me to not want Britton? I realize he's still working his way back, but he seems like a dude who could get annoying really quickly (although fit in with some of our staff) with his control issues. I'd rather keep our prospects instead of getting this specific player, unless the cost...

Re: NL Central Also-Rans: Reds, Brewers, Pirates

Would like to see the Cubs be the #1 seed. Dodgers have been playing great after a rough start. Obviously, if the Cubs take care of their own business, it doesn't matter what any teams do. Also, I don't particularly like the Dodgers and don't mind seeing them suck. I just think we need to stay more...

Re: NL Central Also-Rans: Reds, Brewers, Pirates

Yelich hits a tater off of Kershaw to tie the game at 2 in the bottom of the 6th. Torn on who to root for. Would like to see the Brewers continue to fade. But at the same time, I'd like to see the Dodgers cool off a bit. Not directed at you, but this seems really stupid. Who the hell cares how hot ...
