Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

these are jesse rogers's opinions (as opposed to him reporting who tomorrow's starting pitcher is, which he can at least sort of do) so the correct way to look at them is to expect the opposite to be true Either way, its a very lackluster off season, in my mind. The main point was, what if that IS ...

Re: Trading Heyward

At least with Heyward over all these other bad contracts of broken down and/or older players, he still provides elite production in nine of the 18 half innings of a game. Plus he seems to check off all the other boxes. Hard worker. Good teammate. isn't going to be distraction or a clubhouse divider ...

Re: Trading Heyward

Pretty sure he has a full no-trade clause through next season and then a partial one. So he will have a lot of say on this.

Re: John Mallee

Last post. Pretty much what I'm trying to say. It’s pretty simple. The Cubs scored the second-most runs in the National League, behind the Colorado Rockies, but averaged just 2.5 runs per game in the 2017 postseason. Epstein noted that the Cubs have had mediocre offense the past three postseasons. ...

You'd also have to think this gives us a better chance to get Brett Anderson back via free agency.

Re: Discuss NLDS vs. Dusty Baker's Nationals

Is anybody else not feeling nervous at all? I feel like it was just yesterday that we won the World Series. I would like to win it again, but there is no anxiety like I had going into the playoffs last season. If they don't win, they don't win. I’m not nervous because I genuinely feel they are bett...

Re: Is this 1969 All Over Again?

I don't think there are any comparisons. If I remember what I studied about that season, the Cubs had been good from the beginning of the season into the first couple days of September, then went into a long losing streak. If the Cubs don't win the division, I don't think people are going to think o...

His big money is this season and next (16.5 per) and his final year goes down to 12.5. Let the World Series MVP ride it out with us.

Apologize if this is a stupid question, but was it a blessing of sorts that Addy got hurt and allowed Javy to start every single day no matter the matchup? Did it help him emerge even more?

Javy seems to be the perfect guy to buy out his first few years of free agency. Seems like it could make sense on both sides.

Some people are saying the Cubs expect him to miss 1-2 starts, others are still going off the 'rest of the regular season' report, and one of Barstool's guys said that Lester was supposed to have an MRI last night but then cancelled it. yeah, gonzales reported that they didn't expect him to miss mo...

of COURSE gordo is writing about this https://twitter.com/GDubCub/status/896199770250727424 Doesn't Avila have a decent arm? I mean, it's not like Willson's, but it's alright. It'd be a bit different if we were left with Caratini and Miggy. I think Avila is actually throwing out a higher percentage...

I've never known what to take from timetables regarding hamstrings. Three to four weeks seems like it easily could move to five or six with a bunch of updates about how he's getting closer but still not there.

But if ends up being three to four, I'll take it.

Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

I dont know about the RISP stuff, but the lack of power lately is directly tied to his pinky. That's something interesting to consider. I guess I'd buy it more if KB was hitting a bunch of dongs and then wasn't after the injury. But from May 22 to the injury on July 19, he had hit nine dongs during...

Re: Darvish traded to Dodgers

I don't understand how you can watch baseball for most of your life and make claims like people have made about the Dodgers. This is a sport where bad teams win series against good teams constantly so to claim that a good team won't win a series against another good team is absurd. This is a sport ...

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

What would it take to get Britton 1 of Almora or Happ and Jeimer (potential Machado replacement) and some minor league fodder? I've seen Almora and Happ posted several times like they are in the same tier. I think Happ is for sure a tier above Almora. I'd give up Albert as the headliner for Britton...
