Re: The History Thread
This is somewhat a similar experience with my grandfather about 2-3 weeks ago except it was about his 2 tours in Vietnam. Like UMFan, I didn't hear much about his experience growing up besides the story of Ken Norton Sr was at his boot camp and got to see him box. Some of the stories I heard was jus...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel
Well he was a "kid" in Kong: Skull Island according to Hank Marlow so now he's turning into an adult in this movie.
Of course he's going to keep growing and him being at 5 different heights in the trailer confirms that!

Re: NFL perpetual 2020 regular and postseason non Bears thread
So if I remember right and assuming he offically retires, Brees will count against the cap for $22.65 mil this coming season (all dead money) or $11.15 mil plus 11.5 in 2022 if post June 1st. Is that correct or did I miss something?

Re: Golf thread
anyone have a good suggestion on a portable club cleaner? It's gotten muddy and it hasn't even started raining yet. Would be nice if it doubles as a ball cleaner since those are all shuttered. This is probably the closest to what you're looking for? I've seen a couple people with these although I'v...

Kyle- How's the golf game coming along? Been able to get some rounds in lately? In other news, I talked about making a career change and moving from Indiana later this year in the Politics thread. I'm actually going to apply for the PGA (actually called PGM Associate Program) to become a golf teache...

That play was a read option where it was: A: hand off to RB B: run it yourself C: shovel pass to TE (not sure if this was a legit option on this particular play call) So no true pass option like an RPO play. But like Kyle said and I've said it before, Trubisky just cannot read defense at all or lack...

Don't worry. It'll be 3 and out then a blocked punt.

Re: Wild Card Round: #7 Bears @ #2 Saints, 3:40 CT on 1/10
Not sure why the refs keep calling penalties on the Bears when it's apparent that they just flat out suck and can't stop the Saints. I know quite a few players are out of this game, but they need to tear down this team. It's not going anywhere the next couple years so trade whoever you can and fire ...

Also: Republicans seem to think a right to Twitter is more important than a right to universal, affordable healthcare, so horsefeathers all of them. This reminds me of my family reunion at Christmas 2019 where everyone was bitching about how expensive healthcare is, but the bigger discussion of the...

Re: Golf thread
Personal best 37 today, playing from the white tees. I am the world's champion of pull it left, chip on, two putt. I can't shake the pulls. I tried moving it back in my stance a little bit and that helped in warmups, but it was right back (or left back) to it in the round. Is it just a straight pul...

Re: Golf thread
yea, I'll buy that rotation is everything. Slightly wider stance allows good rotation on longer clubs . Swinging down is my key to those hybrids. I've gone from hitting the 5h 150 to 180. outdistancing my shorter irons for the time being . . . Not only that, but provide a solid base which promote b...

+9 38 for me today, tied personal best. Hit my first 200+ (202 yds) drive on the course, and driver is still leaking right a little bit. I should strengthen grip a tiny bit more but I'm scared of developing a pull hook. 2 pars, 2 doubles, 5 bogeys. Iron shots were usually the right length but spray...

my suggestion is invest in the lessons first and the equipment second. I got a nice new driver but it turns out when I slice it, it still slices! The good part is when I catch it, it goes. I've got some messages out to coaches in the area. Mostly for my nephew, but I'd like to take a handful to mak...

Need? Maybe not. But I love hobbies and buying stuff for them, and golf is the ultimate “part men from their money” hobby, so I promised myself I would be reasonable and take it slow. I just ordered a used Cobra Speedzone on a cyber Monday sale. I’ve always thought those looked slick, and used plus...

Re: Golf thread
I don't think you need to go nuts to get a driver that will let you swing easier and still get plenty of distance. Agreed. Just get a used brand name driver that fits your budget. As long it's not all scratched up or has a big dent in it, it'll most likely still have plenty left in the tank. This a...

If you really want to follow a golf coach on Instagram/Youtube/etc, check out Mike Bender. He's a top 10 coach in the US (Zach Johnson's coach) and he's really informative with his teaching. He has a lot of posts/videos on Instagram that if you're looking for a certain part of the swing, he has it a...

Yeah, screw it, I'm buying myself lessons for Christmas. I tried all the different stuff today, and I'm just making it worse or at least not helping. I think the problem might be my lead wrist at impact. Or maybe I'm not rotating my hips enough. Stronger grip, inside-out swing path, bowing the lead...

Re: The Bears still have to play games (I guess it's Packers week too)
Costs more to lose Foles than to keep him next year. Also, if you believe the rumors it sounds like Pace is pretty safe because the McKaskey family loves him. Then Foles can come in as the back up for a guy they draft or sign. If they draft a guy, Foles would serve better as a starter/mentor then a...

Thanks guys - I'll look into it. And yeah, definitely look at upgrading the shaft based on the data and go with it if it’s within the budget. It will make a difference. I got a whole new set of clubs ~18 months ago, Titleist TS3 drive and AP3 irons and the rep from Titleist who had me on track man ...
