First comp that came to mind to me for Hoerner was Michael Young.

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

3,000+ spin rate on his curve? That's insane... You should watch video of his curveball. It's crazy impressive. Best curveball and breaking ball in the draft by far. I'm sure I can find a gif somewhere... https://twitter.com/mlananna/status/897883715854110720 Yeah I knew his curve is filthy, but di...

Re: 2017-2018 NBA Season

I envy that you seemingly missed all of the "is Kobe the next Jordan?/Kobe IS the next Jordan"-talk. Didn’t seem as prominent though I wasn’t AS big into the NBA until LeBron joined the heat Because Kobe wasn’t so clearly better than Jordan And I don't care what anybody says, Shaq was the...

Re: 2017-2018 NBA Season

How anyone can actually sit here and say Michael Jordan was better at basketball than Lebron James blows my mind. Lebron is the best and most complete athlete to play any sport I've ever had the pleasure to watch. I got into a debate with one of my friends this past weekend about the best and most ...

Re: 2017-2018 NBA Season

And someone explain me to me BR's approach to PER, Win Shares, VORP and box minutes. To a dunce like me, these all seem like cumulative value stats; how do they relate to each other? How reliable are they? BR has pages for those stats... https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/ws.html https://ww...

Re: 2017-2018 NBA Season

Here's another thing I don't get. Why isn't LeBron on the block on that FT? I get it if in case of a fast transition to maybe win, but 4.7 secs left and iirc Warriors had a timeout left.

Re: 2017-2018 NBA Season

That's why I keep asking if BR's numbers are any good; they seemingly have these cumulative rating and value stats, but are they just bunk at this point? From a purely subjective meatball standpoint, I picked half a dozen "best NBA players of all time" lists from within the last two years...

Re: 2017-2018 NBA Season

Again, I don't know what BasR's rep is, but going by them Love has managed to have one peak Pippen-level season so far. And they seemingly have Pippen, at worst, being only a bit better than Wade. What are you looking at? I'm looking at those three and it looks like Pippen is the worst of the three...

Where does Vlad Jr. rank among prospects of the 21st century? He's hitting .397/.447/.645 with an 8.5% K rate and almost 10% BB rate in 142 AA PAs this year. His $3.9 million bonus is the second highest for a 16 YO ever behind Michael Ynoa, easily the highest since the new IFA rules. He's in the sa...

I broke 40 for the first time in 20 years, though I hadn't played golf at all for about 18 of those years. I shot an 81 the other day. Next time out, I shot an 87 and was pissed. Then I thought back to the days when I would have given anything to shoot an 87. Perspective is the key. Wait till you b...

Trade down or not, I like the slate of guys who will be available in the second round for the Bears. Some possibilities... Will Hernandez Josh Jackson Harold Landry Isaiah Oliver Courtland Sutton All would make sense for need and/or value. Bears are up 7- if those 5 were all gone, I'd be okay with ...

Should we be more worried about Bryant? We're quickly reaching the point where you start to wonder about a DL stint if he has symptoms, then he has to have a concussion, right? is there such thing as a borderline concussion? how do heads work? I think it's more the case of they're making sure there...

Same height as Ray Lewis and only 10 pounds lighter on draft day. Willis, Bowman, Lavonte David, Freeman, Shazier, Briggs to name a few that are very similar size wise to Smith. Not sure why people crap on "small" LB briggs was in the 240s, this guy played in 220s, they aren't in same bal...

A small linebacker. This guy better be ridiculously good to justify the pick. Same height as Ray Lewis and only 10 pounds lighter on draft day. Willis, Bowman, Lavonte David, Freeman, Shazier, Briggs to name a few that are very similar size wise to Smith. Not sure why people crap on "small&quo...
