Re: Nico: Hairline fracture, out at least another month

Good to see we have some synergy going up and down the organization from the majors to the minors with misdiagnosing injuries To be fair to the Cubs, I wouldn't necessarily call this a "misdiagnosis" because hairline fractures can be very difficult to discover. Sometimes a person doesn't ...

He was a Rule V pick this past offseason, if memory serves me right.

Re: 2019 Draft Thread

https://twitter.com/vcervinoPG/status/1128715031393263616 I don't think I've mentioned him here, but RHP Evan McKendry has a sick changeup and maybe the best one in the draft. He could be a poor man's Kyle Hendricks if the command improves. Hmm, I don't think LHP Graeme Stinson has the best slider ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 5-15-19

Interested to see what last year's 2nd round comp pick Paul Richan does in his next couple starts. His last two have been pretty [expletive] good. 12.2 IP, 12 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 15 K. 0 HRs allowed is the biggest positive for me with Richan so far. That was his bugaboo in college. Very likely that he s...

The new Fangraphs mock has Logan Davidson to the Cubs. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/mock-draft-2-0/ .202/.304/.266/.570 in 309 PA in the Cape Cod League with the his second year being worse then the first is scary, Almost as scary as his K rate over 20% this year in college ball. Hard pass for me.

I really want the high level scouts to be convinced that Greg Jones will hit, so he can be the pick. That speed would be really fun.

Re: 2019 Draft Thread

Yeah, I see alot of holes with the Cubs picking Misner. He’s nothing like the college hitters they have taken up top with the injuries and inconsistency plus no CCL. There’s shades of Brett Jackson in the profile with a little Bobby Brownlie as a pre injured big name faller coming off a down year. ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 5-8-19

Anyone know when Nico Hoerner is supposed to return? It’s been about two weeks now and I thought the report was no serious injury. 2 weeks off from a hit by pitch to the wrist/arm seems serious to me. I don't think there were any breaks or anything, which is the "not serious" part. But th...

Shewmake went 31 and Hoese 32 in this mock.

Has anyone gotten any looks at this kid? Otherworldy stats, but Kiley said he has a really long swing and feasts against weak competition.

Cory Abbott continues to plug away with another quality start. 6 IP, 6H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 Ks. Not as flashy as his past 2 starts, but this is his first time making it a full 6 innings.

Nico Hoerner’s at .327/.421/.490 with a 12% K rate I'm just as impressed with the matching 12.3% BB rate in the early going for him. He didn't walk much at all in college, and I was hoping he wasn't going to be a guy like Almora who can make contact early and never takes walks. 169 wRC+ in the earl...

Jonathan Sierra’s 1/3 with a double. He’s hitting .300 with a <10% K rate which would be most cool if there was any power behind it. The double is his second XBH of the season, also a double While no one’s really breaking out in a big way it seems Ademan, Sierra, and Velazquez are holding up in ful...
