Pfft. 3 for 4 with a BB. But they were all singles. Bum couldn’t even get an XBH.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-20-18

Our main man Brennen is back tonight. Davis got taken out around the 7th inning. He was DHing and was pinch hit for in the bottom of the 7th. Might've been planned that Davis not play the full game to ease him back in. His last at bat was in the 5th. He walked and was forced at 2nd base. Might have...

Not giving him his own thread, but this was the pitcher that seemed to me, to possibly be our best pitching prospect, out of this last class. Dammit.

Yeah, that sucks. He was at least interesting.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-19-18

Roederer HR Man, what an exciting start. I know, premature and everything, but sometimes if you've got it you've got it. Draft thread, there were some questions about wisdom of the two HS kids, were they overdrafts, how low is the success rate with HS hitters, why didn't they shoot for higher ceili...

With 11% BB and 23% K. I remember him doing something similar last year, where he struggled a bit the first month or so, and then turned it on.

Only explanation for his absence is that he, along with D.J. Artis, were sacrificed so that we could have Nico and Roederer.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-18-18

Also, Andy Weber has had about as rough a beginning as I remember a college bat having. After a K in the 1st tonight, he’s 1 for 12 with 8Ks. I'd been thinking exactly the same thing after checking box score and before popping over here. He's added a couple more K's in his 2nd and 3rd AB as well. 1...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-17-18

Luke Reynolds got promoted to Eugene and went 2 for 4 with a double (and a K). That's about it for interesting things yesterday. He’s older but put up video game numbers last year. I’m intrigued by him and will be interesting how fast they push him based on age. He slashed like .390/550/.700 with 1...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

I don't agree with this at all. Any season-ending arm injury to a pitching arm is damning enough, with or without surgery, but then his performance when on the field was decidedly meh. It was only 8 starts, but he was striking out 2 guys less per 9 than last year in AA, while still throwing loads o...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

Oh, ya gotta love Brailyn Marquez single-handedly saving the Cubs organization's pitching prospect list after losing Alzolay to injury, De La Cruz to suspension and Albertos to Steve Blass disease. 5 starts, 1 ER in each of them. Gotta love consistency. 21.2 IP, 13 H, 7 BB, 29 K, 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHI...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

Lange is doing what was expected of him, Marquez is moving way up, when others have faltered. That's just the ebb and flow of a normal farm system. De La Cruz and Albertos have faded, but Alzolay hasn't. He's shutdown, but no surgery. He's just as big a prospect as was to start the year. And, Marqu...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

Roederer just took Corey Black yard for his 2nd bomb in the past 2 games. Had already walked and stole another base before that. Gonna have to ask AZPhil what he looks like defensively in CF, because he's been great at the plate so far. So we drafted Mookie Betts (Nico) and Benintendi (Roederer). N...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

Let's shift the discussion to Nico. This dudes a horsefeathering badass. I'm gonna go to the extreme but I can see some Mookie Betts in his game. Obviously has a great eye at the plate and does not whiff much. Cubs are gonna have to tinker with the swing if they want more power, IMO. He has 2 caree...
