Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-24-18

ODLC and Albertos continue to horsefeathers the bed so far. Abbott pitched well at least.

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

Mlb.com came out with their top 30 IFAs. They list the Cubs with Gallardo (5th) and Lopez (17), who we had heard about, but also have them on another LHP at the back end of the list named Joel Machado (28). That SS we heard them linked to, Rafael Morel, was not listed. If we're guessing pricetags, ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-21-18

Finally got my MiLB subscription up and running. Any velo readings given will be passed along. Javier Assad: He looks to have slimmed down a bit from last year. 1st inning - 90-91 FB, looping curveball. Struggled to find his spots. Got a called 3rd strike on a much tighter curve (could've been a ch...

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

I can't get anyone to answer a question on who's linked to Rodriguez. I remember seeing someone list some teams expected to spend heavily and the Cubs weren't mentioned. But, you can't take much from that, as it could have just been a list of teams that have already committed big money. I'm definit...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-18-18

Little's two outings have come in weather generously described as 40 degrees, I'm not terribly worried about down velocity. 5 walks in 18 batters is a different story, although history is full of guys who take a few games to settle in to a level too. As davell said, the diminished velocity isn’t a ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-18-18

The beginning of the minor league season is always a frustrating time for me. I've waited all off season for it to start, but because of the nature of the game and the youth of most of the players, the first 30 IP and 100 PA for guys are kind of meaningless. We all hope for good starts for guys and...

I think you are getting him confused with someone else. Dude walked the entire Mountain West while at Fresno State and never had a SO/9 over 10. Even his ERAs were terrible for a collegiate prospect. https://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/6/9/15759876/2017-fabio-ratings-of-top-draft-eligible-pitching...

Re: 2018 Draft Thread

Hoglund might be growing on me. He reminds me of a watered down Greinke as a HSer. Simple and athletic delivery, fastball command, command and control with stuff (not as good as HS Greinke in either area but w/e), smart, two way prospect, Florida kid... I think McDaniel's Florida focus is keeping g...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-12-18

I actually like Tyler Thomas, he was excellent in college and more or less has shown the same skills as a pro. He strikes me as a Tony Sipp or Duensing type, doesn't have crazy stuff or velocity but knows how to sequence his pitches. Coincidentally he's perfect through 3 with 4 Ks... Amaya and Adem...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-11-18

Going back to their days in Boston, how many of Thoyer's pitching draft picks turned into better than BORPs or were at least shut down relievers? Lester & Papelbon were home runs. Barnes was decent last year, as was Joe Ross. Anyone else? I know you're asking about draft picks, but why doesn't ...

I wonder wtheck has been going on with Kumar Rocker. No game tweets or random updates at all this month...Hopefully it helps get him to a Cubs pick. I couldn't find any tweets, but according to this, he at least pitched on Monday. http://www.onlineathens.com/sports/20180410/high-school-sports-round...
