Sort of. Fennell was signed as a UDFA, but he's the first June 2018 acquisition to see game action...

Good call. I thought he was a later round pick.

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

But with the bolded, the big thing for everyone is whether or not you got the same vibe when you watched Ryan Kellogg, Kyle Twomey, or any of the other failed pitching prospects you fell in love with? Well no, Kellogg and Twomey were really well known HS recruits that never got better but I thought...

Dammit. Hate losing a guy that well thought of by the scouting community. Especially when it was one of the "coups" while in the penalty box.

https://twitter.com/mdgonzales/status/1008427454506176514?s=21 I wonder what Roederer is angling for there. Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

He has less fastball than all of them, and doesn't even flash a plus secondary like each of those 3 you listed. Those are the big reasons why he was knocked around all year at the college level. It's not always a great thing to throw strikes when your stuff is as mediocre as Richan's. From what I s...

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

Badler dashing our hopes: The Yankees are tied to Osiel Rodriguez, a Cuban righthander who has reached 96 mph, throws a swing-and-miss breaking ball and has advanced pitchability for a 16-year-old. He has a case as the top pitching prospect in the class, with a bonus likely coming in just north of ...

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

In a world where we gave guys like Stinnet, Skulina, and Pierce Johnson the time of day for a few minutes, what's so bad about Richan? He's healthy, young, can hit 94, can locate it, healthy, can locate at least two other pitches, keeps the ball in the park, and missed bats this year. Plus he's not...

Re: Eugene’s Roster

I wouldn't be absolutely stunned if the Cubs wanted to rest Casey and Richan after big workload years. I wouldn't be surprised if Weber and Hoerner's time in Eugene is very, very short, barring some extreme struggles. I wonder if it's one of those extreme situations where a guy like Hoerner gets a ...

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

That Richan pick is my least favorite one. I know the underslot was necessarily, but just yuck. Not thrilled with the draft overall, but definitely interested in following how these "cognitive skill darlings" (CSDs for short, that's trademarked) are going to fare. It's clear as day that th...

Gonna be tough to find all the ABs that will be necessarily after all the college bats sign. I do like that Velazquez is going to Eugene though. Just not quite ready for A ball yet.

I hope the Cubs pick up J.J. Schwartz or Bryce Montes De Oca as one of their senior signs. Damn. A's picked Schwartz. They probably aren't as cheap as your traditional senior signs but they would be good picks. Well, Montes de Oca still would be - I can imagine him moving quickly as a reliever. Yea...

I know I should expect a run of senior signs about now, but I would really appreciate a fun pick in the 7th like Kerry Wright.
