Re: 2018 AFL

10/16: C J. Pereda 0/4, K; defense: 2/2 CS LF DJ Wilson: 0/4, K RP B. Clark 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 4-0 GO-FO, 27-21 pitches-strikes That strike percentage from Clark is sexy, given his history. I tried finding some velocity reports for him on twitter, but wasn't having any luck. Last I remember...

Definitely will take that, even if there isn't much separating the 75th prospect from the 125th.

Nice! I had visions of him sitting 82-84 and fooling teenagers in the AZL with breaking stuff.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-30-18

Longenhagen had prospect notes that included Swarmer about a week or so ago, and it was admittedly, fairly disappointing to read. He suggests that all his pitches are fringy (which suggest 40/45's) and play up because of the delivery (to be fair, the difference between fringy and average isn't a to...

Yonathan Perlaza had a really nice season this year. He may be a tad underappreciated by us on here.

Giambrone hit a HR playing SS tonight, 11th time at SS this year Ademan 2/4 with a double Lamge finished with 7 Ks, a HR, and 4 hits allowed in 6 IP (3 BBs) Alex Guerra is 2/3 with a couple doubles, should offer some offseason flexibility for the org at C in trades as he might be able to skip Eugen...

Definitely have to root for the guy. That fastball actually looked like it had a little bit of zip. I was expecting low-80's from him after 2 shoulder surgeries.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-18-18

Just do it on August 31st, and option down Rosario for a day. That way Webster can be on the postseason roster if he balls out in September. The long term 40 man looks fine as well, since Chavez/De La Rosa/Wilson are all FAs and only Justin Steele needs to be protected in the Rule 5. Hamels is a FA...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-18-18

The 40-man is at 39 after Anthony Bass was outrighted but they might have to take Smyly or Hancock off the 60-day DL in September. Leave Hancock on the 60 day. Give Smyly the open spot. DFA Mazzoni and add Webster. Easy peasy. Does he have options remaining? When you put him on the 40, you'd have t...

https://twitter.com/cubprospects/status/1031359537306116096?s=21 Get him on the 40 man and call him up in September, if the stuff is back. I think it sits at 39, but I could be wrong. If a spot is needed, a guy like Cory Mazzoni can be jettisoned with no harm done. The 40-man is at 39 after Anthony...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-20-18

So outside of Adbert Alzolay, I think Marquez is the best pitching prospect in our system. That's not a good sign. I think the earliest his ETA for reaching the big league team is late 2020 and that's being super optimistic. Are you saying it's not a good sign because he's far away? Yeah. The close...

Allen Webster at AA: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K Pitched another perfect inning last night with 2 more Ks. 4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 Ks. Has his velocity come back? I saw that and was shocked a bit. I've seen multiple games of Short and would have classified it as average defense at SS. But then again, that was just the eye test and I'm obviously not a scout.

Well, that sucks for Yu. But I do applaud that he seems proactive about it now. Gotta look long term with him, due to the contract. ____ With the way he's eating solid innings, getting a healthy number of K's, and not giving up a lot of hits, I'm gonna be awfully surprised if Swarmer doesn't have 5...

Seeing Keegan Thompson going today made me think of the top prospect list over at Bleachernation. I normally don't read anything over there written by Luke Blaize, but had some time to kill (apologies Luke, if you post over here as well). It's pretty awful, IMO. 1. Miguel Amaya 2. Keegan Thompson 3....
