Re: Most likely to be traded?

I voted Happ because I think he's the best blend of having value for other teams while still being replaceable by the Cubs' depth. In the grand scheme, I don't know how much Schwarber or Almora would even bring back right now. That said, I think the pitchers I'd be willing to move Happ for would req...

Re: Theo's Presser

I've said this before, but I think the shortstop discussion is a reasonable one to have. Even with the throwing issues from time to time, Russell has proven to be the superior defender. But to me, the discussion doesn't end there. Shoulder soreness is something he's battled for more than one season ...

Re: Theo's Presser

Listened to this at work. His answer to the question about Arrieta and/or Davis returning was a long one about how players have the right to search for that big payday and how many factors, short and long term, a team has to consider. I dunno, felt to me like the 2018 plans don't include either of t...

How many AL sweeps do we need for that to be 4:30?

Re: Discuss NLDS vs. Dusty Baker's Nationals

Just saw on BN that Quintana is throwing a sim game on Wed with Arrieta. That has to mean Lester gets one of the first two games.

Hendricks-Lester-Q-Arrieta would be my guess at the rotation

Re: Discuss NLDS vs. Dusty Baker's Nationals

Dusty's gotta wait to see how Scherzer's arm responds after he has him throw a 120 pitch simulated game on Wednesday.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I spent most of this season being annoyed with this team, yet here they are with a pretty good shot at finishing with 93 horsefeathering wins. I enjoy how spoiled I've become by Theo's Cubs.

Re: Discuss NLDS vs. Dusty Baker's Nationals

I agree that Scherzer is the one matchup where we might not see the Russell/Javy middle infield to start. I kind of doubt Joe would trust La Stella's glove in the middle infield in a playoff game, or that he'd sit Contreras (especially since Turner is healthy), but I suppose both are possible. I was...

Looks like all 4 series play Friday Oct. 6 as well.

Go Twins in that wild card game. horsefeathers playoff day games.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I think it basically all comes down to Martin vs Lackey depending on how many pitchers they want. I've got La Stella, Rivera, Rondon, and Wilson as virtual locks. Martin is fast, but he's not a tremendous basestealer and Joe has been using Almora as the defensive replacement for Schwarber instead o...

Re: Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Greg Maddux

Yeah I think he's gotta be the game 1 guy. Immediately following his DL stint, I was pretty sure we had another Randy Wells situation on our hands, but now it feels like he's 2016 Hendricks again. It would bring me great pleasure watching him out-duel Scherzer throwing 10 mph slower and moping aroun...

Has it ever been confirmed how much (if at all) the Cubs tried to alter his swing before 2016?

Re: What do the Cubs do with Zobrist Next Year?

I'll see your concerns about Zobrist and Russell and raise you a Jason Heyward. I actually feel good about both Zobrist and Russell as players going into next season. Though I also think Russell's shoulder pain the past two seasons is something to keep an eye on. I get that when Addison and Javy are...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Adrian Gonzalez has one homer in 205 plate appearances this season. He's been the one negative on that team, aside from their pitchers who may or may not be hurt.

I'd be very interested to look at Kinsler's pitch f/x data at the end of the season. I have a guess as to how August and September games will compare to the earlier games.

There can be a middle ground here. This division blows, but having a lot of confidence in the 2017 Cubs is also kinda weird.

Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

I dont know about the RISP stuff, but the lack of power lately is directly tied to his pinky. While players are making adjustments in the offseason, our FO needs to as well and re-think how they utilize the damn 10 day DL for hand and wrists.

Gleyber Torres could throw a ball with more velocity across the diamond with his recently Tommy John'd left arm than Russell can with his right.

I had forgotten Alex Avila's dad is the Tigers' GM. I was thinking he was just a placeholder after Dombrowski left and they had replaced him.

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

I've kind of already decided I don't want to see Hendricks start a playoff game this year should the Cubs make it. And I'm certainly not saying Lackey is the answer. Seems pretty shortsighted about a guy who was dynamite in the regular season and playoffs last year & had brief struggles to star...
