Re: It's Maddoning

Theo's in a bit of an extended slump when it comes to general decision making. The feeling around this team should be way more positive than it actually is right now.

This quote sure doesn't scream like we're going nuts this offseason.

I read that as "Heads will roll if we can't win after I add Bryce horsefeathering Harper to the middle of the order"

Re: The Bryce is Right, Bitch

I'm really curious how many of these sources are basing this new information almost solely on the Cubs trading Smyly. Listening to the Sharma/Finfer/Greenberg pod, it felt like that's what those guys were doing at least.

Re: Realistic Trade Targets

I wouldn't trade Schwarber for Doolittle and would only consider Happ if they're desperate to move Chatwood and he gets attached. Giving up significant assets to go into a season with Morrow and Doolittle as your top two relievers is way too risky for me.

Hinske is probably available. Wonder if they just give him a call.

Also is Manny still playing pro ball somewhere?

Non-tender Russell Trade Duensing and Kintzler (and maybe prospects) for as much salary relief as possible Trade Almora and Chatwood (maybe a prospect as well) to the Rockies for as much salary relief as possible Sign Harper 10/340 Re-sign Hamels 2/30 Re-sign Chavez 2/10 Sign Hechavarria 1/2.5 That ...

If you edit out the part where Theo specifically said Maddon is coming back for 2019, I would've guessed he is preparing to hire red assed Joe Girardi tomorrow with all the other things he said.

Re: Good, Morrow to work on the sabbath

We could probably place some blame on the people who signed the pitcher who is always hurt.

So who is in the NLDS bullpen?

Wilson
Montgomery
De la Rosa?

Edwards
Cishek
Chavez

Then either Kintzler, Rosario, maybe Webster if he impresses, or Strop (I'd be stunned) for the last spot?

Re: homophobe (Daniel Murphy), incoming (to the Cubs)

You know, Murphy has been so bad at 2B, I do wonder if the Cubs will opt to put him at a corner. Joe seemingly prefers to play La Stella and Happ (when he's played infield this year) at 3B, so I wouldn't totally rule that out for Murphy even with Bryant back. Might also depend on if they view a cert...

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

I mean Bote at 3B. By "there" I meant the defense in general doesn't suffer much when Russell sits and it's a Bote, Javy, and Zobrist alignment

Re: David Bote is a Golden God and Deserves His Own Thread

6 DRS in just 169 innings at third base. I know Maddon loves having Russell and Baez up the middle, and for good reason, but Bote has looked so good defensively, I really don't think we're losing much there with Bote starting over Russell. Hopefully he's still an above average hitter by October beca...

I mean Hamels himself isn't that exciting but I'll still organize the welcome parade for him if it means Chatwood is removed from the rotation.

Wait, why wouldn't we want Happ given the state of our rotation? I'd love to get him, personally.

Re: Regular Season Rumors

I certainly like the idea of Britton, as you can never have enough top pen arms these days. However, I really don't know what to think about the roation and whether we need someone like JA Happ more than Britton or not. I'd like to think at least one of Darvish/Montgomery/Smyly could be in a positio...

At I-Cubs game. Alzolay 94-96 mph in first inning. Got a few weak swings at a mid 80s curve. I'm intrigued.

Re: Things are looking Grimm for Justin

I guess I'm mildly interested to see Butler as a reliever full time. Maybe he can consistently sit 96 mph or something. I'd assume he's pretty much locked into the last bullpen spot. My guess is if Strop is ready on opening day, we go with 8 relievers; if he's on the DL, Bourjos or Zagunis take his ...
