Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

But he suuuuucks, his "good" years have come with FIPs between 4.2-4.5. I wouldn't mind throwing them a prospect to rent Garcia before or after a bigger trade. I guess that's better than Julio Teheran's 5.70 FIP. Unless there's a compelling reason to think Teheran is hurt, then yes I woul...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Happ + Jimenez for Archer Candelario + Cease/Clifton + Caratini/Zagunis for Gray Playoff rotation: Lester Hendricks Archer Arrieta Gray (Lackey demoted to spot starter/mop-up duty) How realistic? How realistic that we go with a 5 man rotation in the playoffs? I'd say about zero percent. Well by the...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Gray has looked excellent once he got his sea legs under him. I'd love to get him from Oakland if he stays healthy. I didn't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if this was covered, but if they go big to get a TOR arm with control (Archer) I have a sneaking suspicion Addy will be the centerpiece...

Re: RE: Re: Send Schwarber Down!!

He probably needs to flatten his swing a little bit. Uppercut swings stay in the zone for a short period of time and leave little room for error. The top of the zone is a huge weakness for him and pitchers aren't gonna stop attacking it if he can't do damage there. The prevailing thought is that yo...

I says we send him to High-A like the Cardinals did with Grichuk, just to clear his head of course.

Re: Send Schwarber Down!!

I'm shocked at the replies. Sending him to Iowa will get him 5 ABs everyday without the pressure that he is under now. It's more to clear his head and hit the reset button. It will happen sooner than later. Best example, look at Conforto last year he was sent back to AAA and now is back up and comf...

Happ's final season: .369/.492/.672, 14 HR, 18 doubles Bryant's: .329/.493/.820, 31 HR, 13 doubles, 3 triples God knows how many HR's Bryant hits (and fatalities he causes) if they were still using the old aluminum bats when he played. Bryant played his home games in one of the most pitcher-friendl...

Even without the enormous blinking PitchFX/Statcast disclaimer, trying to read the tea leaves into single game numbers on velocity/movement/release point/etc is my least favorite form of analysis. I was really disappointed when I saw Sullivan wrote about Arrieta and then found out it was that stuff...

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

Time to switch from the Offseason. The Braves just signed Ryan Howard. Phillies Twitter is less than pleased. Did they forget that Ryan Howard's been awful to the tune of -4.5 WAR since 2012? Seriously, I could see an AL fringe contender taking a flier for the possibility of an August call up, but,...

Brian Matusz gets a ring. Without him we wouldn't have had the Lester walkoff.
