Re: I like Gold Gloves and I cannot lie: the Jason Heyward thread

Heyward is an above-average hitter and he's still the 10th-most valuable position player on our team.

Re: The Cardinals

Michael Wacha has made 12 starts against the Cubs since the start of the 2015 season. He's given up at least 5 ER in 7 of them. He also gave up 3 ER in an inning the one time he faced the Cubs out of the pen. Oh and he gave up 3 dongs in his one playoff start against the Cubs. Including the playoffs...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Looking through Almora's infield hits in his career, most of them are hard hit balls that deflected off of a glove with a few cheapies that everyone gets sprinkled in. He's not beating out infield hits. He's just hitting it hard at shortstops who don't have as much time to recover as a second basema...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Almora probably will continue to hit a lot of infield singles. His IFH% this year is 9.5%. It's 9.4% for his career. The main reason he gets a bunch is because he hits a lot of grounders and he's right-handed. He pulls a lot of grounders but not enough that teams will shift on him. Right-handed hitt...

Re: NL Central Also-Rans: Reds, Brewers, Pirates

It’s a wonder they haven’t went all r_mack over there after being thoroughly embarrassed so often by a team with so many dubious-looking contracts.

Re: Is Jason Heyward Fixed?

The hit off Hader was on the inside. He's slugging .533 with an 88.1 mph exit velocity on pitches on the inner third since I posted in here about him moving up closer to the plate and he somehow decided to move back off of it.

Re: THE Bryce Harper in 2018 Thread

Yeah, his xStats at Baseball Savant are excellent. He has one of the largest discrepancies between his expected BA and actual BA in the league. Most of the guys with larger discrepancies than him are hitting like .170 or some impossibly low number. If anything he’s doing a better job than ever at av...

Never forget (or forgive) that the Cubs opted to visit the Trump WH for NO horsefeathering REASON SINCE THEY HAD ALREADY SHOWN UP AFTER WINNING THE WS as we hear all of the brouhaha over the Eagles (the horsefeathering EAGLES) being awesome and not going. http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfee...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

Thanks. Not enough depression to satisfy though. I was hoping for something more Brennaman-esque. It was pretty great hearing Keith Hernandez ripping hard into Willson for the fake steal on the pitch before only to be interrupted mid-sentence by Javy sliding into home and having to admit it a smart...

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

Having never heard of this guy but looking at our roster full of first-round bats that have been resounding successes, I'll say this guy is going to be Jose Ramirez.

They could tell Javy he can do And-1 Mixtape moves when he walks to first, like Dave Chappelle:

Re: Baez impresses Baez

"Javy gave me a sign to take a bigger lead and at that point I knew exactly what he was thinking," Contreras said. "On the first pitch I did a fake steal which I think prompted the throw over on the second pitch. It worked out. Javy has the best instincts as a runner and player."...

Which brings me to Jason Heyward. Let's review here, too. For anyone questioning the Power of Somehow, let's review. May 20, 2016. Duke writes what could be considered my first article: "Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Good." http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=40554#p40554 Now a thread titled "Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Greg Maddux,...

Re: Albert Almora: Somehow a slow Grady Sizemore?

I really like Almora. I feel like the switch flipped against RHP in August of last year, and through ~3 months of play he hasn't really gone backwards yet, so it's looking more and more likely those gains are real. The BABIP will come down but even still something like .290/.340/.450 with legit def...

Re: "Finish this!" - The 2018 Rizzo Thread

Still needs more dong. I think he is somehow back to normal, though. Dude, he's hit 6 dongs (or, as us smarty types call them, HR) this month. I guess I take it back. Looks like he had a dong binge early in the month but hadn't hit one for awhile before yesterday. I figured his slugging was largely...
