Re: "Time makes fools of us all" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

Assuming the Cubs need to make trades to fill some of their holes, Schwarber and Caratini are the only somewhat valuable assets on the roster. I don't think any of the core 4 will be traded , so that leaves the top prospects (Amaya, Hoerner, etc.) or players on the roster. Soler was traded like 3 y...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

Really late to the Spider-Man talk... We all want him controlled by Marvel Studios but its not like Sony needs Marvel Studios to make money with Spider-Man. Do they need Marvel Studios in order to make good movies with Spider-Man? Sure. But Im guessing they feel pretty confident that if Disney doesn...

Re: The Book Thread

I think The Apostle is a damn fine film. It also did not come out in 1999. Well maybe I should watch it again, cause 16 year old me just wasn't into it. And I realize it didnt come out in '99. I only mentioned it because it was one of the stubs I found when I went looking for my '99 stubs. 98 stubs...

Re: The Book Thread

I flew through the book Best. Movie. Year. Ever. How 1999 Blew Up The Big Screen and that was a fun read. I graduated high school in 99 and watched so many movies back then, and im a pack rat so of course I save all my ticket stubs, especially movie ones. I dug them up the other day. Most of them we...

Theo refuses to trade Almora, Happ or Schwarber but then goes and trades Rizzo? I don't see it.

Re: Addison Russell

Russell is definitely dumb but I don't remember him being this baseball dumb back in 15/16. I thought he was going to be a superstar. I think being stupid is part of what made Theo think he would be a superstar too. I think in Moneyball (book not movie) Beane talked about how stupid Lenny Dykstra w...

Im guessing the city/county officials lean more toward corrupt than they do incompetent. They were getting something from Ricketts in return for looking the other way. Journalism unearthed this one, id bet.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Not every baseball player's divorce is like John Lackey's, where he doesnt care if his ex dies or not. I trust Ben Zobrist that he knows whether he would be useful to the Cubs right now. Im guessing they'd all rather have him away getting better mentally than him taking at bats with his mind focused...

Either he had trade value after he blew out his knee or he didnt - I'm not advocating for having traded him back then. Just saying he couldve been moved then for ML pieces if Theo really wanted to when it was implied that he couldnt.

Re: Addison Russell

It’s been talked about before, but when really would’ve been the right time to trade Schwarber and/or Russell?? It made no sense to trade Schwarbs after 2015, they thought he could still catch at least ~40 games a year and then he blew his knee out in 2016. He never really had value after that. And...
