Re: Politics & Current Events

I made it halfway before putting it down for a while. Trump is the most muddled speaker I've ever seen. Not news, I know.

Re: General Chit-Chat thread

I used to get shin splints in high school during football 3-a-days at the start of the season in the summer. The way the trainers back then explained it to me was that shin splints are a result of running on hard surfaces without the proper footwear. Apparantly since it was summertime the ground ben...

Re: College Football - Bowl Games

Not gonna defend the ref, that was absolutely terrible.

I wonder what the player said to make the official see red to the point of issuing an ejection though. I'm sure he didn't eject him just for the physical contact there.

Re: Politics & Current Events

I would argue that with the amount of parents that I see throwing a tablet at their children whenever they act up instead of taking charge themselves, a child could easily come to think a certain way due to YouTube videos.

Dunno if you were being facetious though.

Just looking at some dodgers stats from last year. What on earth happened with Chris Taylor? Guy goes from seasons with 0 0 1 1 HR to 21 plus 3 in the playoffs in 2017. Out of no where.

Just recently saw Rogue One and I thought it was pretty damn good. You're right, each of the main characters are great.

GET EM BOTH AND OHTANI.

And then we can go with a 6 man rotation to allow Ohtani more chances to hit between starts.

I'm guessing their hope is that he is recognizable enough figure that he won't need the ties other coaches would to get the recruiting done.

Re: ITT: Raisin & Tom/King Kong Obsess Over Shohei Ohtani

Odds that Theo has slept since he found out about this key to Ohtani's kingdom?

I like to envision him at a typewriter, surrounded by empty booze bottles and crumpled up letters to Shohei, just typing away trying to make it perfect.

I hope he succeeds, I really want Ohtani to be a Cub.

I'm gonna go with putting that level of turnaround on par with Kyle Schwarber's 2016.

Except instead of a miraculously swift recovery of the Schwarmachine's knee, an equally miraculously high spike of Heyward's launch angle.

Re: How do you mark your fifth tally?

Top right to bottom left for me. Bottom right to top left seems really awkward to write, as you'd be pushing your pen directly away from your hand to make that dash.

I'm a righty. If I was lefty it seems like bottom right to top left would be more natural.

Re: Offseason Transactions

Good move by them in my opinion. He'll be 35 when it's up and that seems like a really safe age to give yourself an option to move on from a player. He and Trout kinda quietly smashed the last couple months of the season and almost got the Angels into the playoffs. Couple of other good touches this ...

Re: Trading Heyward

Hypothetically, if the Cubs have another slow first half and Heyward is doing what he's done the last two seasons, I could see several stories that come out around the ASB like: HEYWARD'S 3 YEAR HIBERNATION, IS HE HOLDING THESE YOUNG CUBS BACK? CUBS PAID FOR SOLID GLOVE, BAT FROM J-HEY AND GOT ONLY ...

Our best players were great and won the game for us tonight. TBS sucks gigantic donkey dick, I had to restart my stream every half inning because it spazzed out every commercial break.

I think Lester is gonna show up and be lights out tomorrow. Let's hope! Go cubs go.

Bumpfire stocks are a such a horsefeathering joke of an accessory to be legal it's sickening. "They don't make a semiauto into an automatic" surrrrrreeee they don't, you just pull the trigger slightly, hold it to your shoulder and the gun fires automatically from there "BUT IT ISN'T A...

Re: How many teams in each league should make the playoffs?

Also, the one game WC setup is perfect. The games are absolutely must win and everyone involved knows it. It isn't a surprise. Nothing unfair about it at all. Is it unfair that a team gets to advance to the next round after only winning one game? No? Then it isnt unfair that your season can be over ...

Re: How many teams in each league should make the playoffs?

Lol if there is one event with stakes and another that is effectively just an exhibition you're going to lose any semblance of a national audience and probably a lot of fans who feel (correctly) that their team is playing for peanuts. Why remove the gravitas from the tournament the way it is set up ...

Re: Discuss NLDS vs. Dusty Baker's Nationals

I've been to Nats park several times. It's pretty decent. Good place to catch a game, and I will be there if this series goes to 5. Not much to write home about, but Nats park is an alright place to catch a baseball game. I do like how almost all the fans have to leave down the same 4-5 lane street ...

Re: which sport's title is hardest to repeat?

I mean great coaching, constantly pulling in the best recruits, and returning 75% of your championship caliber roster means the real blue bloods don't lurk far below the top 10 for long, but it's still rare to see any of them go back to back. Except for Bama being Bama, it hasn't happened much in re...
