Maybe Rizzo is being played by Javier Botet this year

Or maybe he ran over the daughter of Taduz Lemke

Devils feeling fancy with Lindy Ruff...With the best Nico and Jack Hughes, some other players, and 3 firsts they will probably be pretty good soon unless they don't

Re: Summer Camp 2020

Hoyer made some comments about trusting in track records, and it's feeding this thought I have that the Cubs are absolutely stacked for this format. Basically I'm thinking that the players who will do best post-shutdown are high usage players, relative for more niche roles and overall for starters w...

Re: Minor League Musings

If everything comes together, he could become the second 30-30 player in club history after Sammy Sosa Theo willing, he is the 4th after Sosa, Lindor, and Baez Javy’s only topped 30 HRs once and only got to over 20 SBs (21) once. You think he’s gonna be able to do that as a 29+ year old (since he w...

Yeesh. That post = https://frinkiac.com/video/S04E01/AlpXZlWVm46a9Fl1ag8TiHkMAow=.gif My "optimistic" take on what is probably an inevitable Bryant extension is that whatever he signs for will not hurt future players anymore than they have been. The Cubs will pobably offer more than CW11'...

Re: NFL Offseason

Mahomes got half a billi! Damn. So, if you're scoring at home, the Bears saved almost 500 million by drafting Trubisky! So far I'm seeing $63ish garaunteed, a little less than $150 in injury insurance or something, and the Chiefs can cut lose anytime after the first two years (really the 4th year) ...

Re: Kris Bryant is awesome and we were always right to love him

I don’t blame him for not doing an extension at this point but I also think between this mess we’re in and 2022 looking in more trouble I don’t see KB getting $200+ mil either on an extension/new FA deal (well maybe a little over $200 if it includes this/next year arb years). I’d guess he’s in the ...

Re: 2021 Draft Thread

Nice, was extremely high on Tiedemann during this draft, should be a first round guy this time barring injury. There's SP tools galore as today's outspoken youths might say, easily one of the better pitcher frames in this draft. He actually doesn't turn 19 until well after the draft next year, makin...

Looks like the Northwoods League, a newer college summer league, is playing this year. Maybe trying to take advantage of no CCBL and gain some rep...IIRC Northwoods started in the 2000s maybe even last decade, and obviously doesn't have the reputation of the CCBL https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...

Re: Minor League Musings

I actually was talking more depth of repertoire for relievers than workload with the 3 or more pitches thing. Sanders, Carraway, Roberts, Thompson, etc show fastball, curve, slider/cutter, and changeup and the Cubs seem to encourage developing them all I see relievers needing more pitches as a respo...

Re: Minor League Musings

Is 90-92 his median average, or his upper quartile? Often fans, broadcasters, TV, media, and social media tend to mention the faster stuff, and the average isn't actual quite as fast as the alleged range. So I'm hesitant to trust that "90-92" is really his average. The easiest way to thin...

Re: Minor League Musings

Wait, what's a true 90-92 guy and why would it be hard to trust that a pitcher in the 21st century can do that? How many guys in pro ball these days can't do that? It legitimately might be single digits, would be news If it's that his velocity was down a little in 2018 with Eugene, we're talking a s...

Re: MLB Imposes 60 Game Season, Spring Training 2.0 Starts in 7 Days

Padres trade a PTBNL for Jorge Mateo of the A's I was hoping the Cubs would be interested for the same role Ian Miller might get. Miller probably makes more sense anyway as an RHH OF and Hoerner as a SS/2B possible OF. Mateo's out of options anyway so could become available again pretty easily maybe...

Re: Minor League Musings

To wax on about Roberts...Listening to the Carraway interview with CI, who interviewed Roberts last year, there are some similarities between these two. The obvious is that both are shorter, similar build former dominant college closers. Beyond that is that their games and deliveries are so technica...

Re: 2020 MLB Actual Draft Day(s) Thread

I noticed JT Ginn got nearly $3 million from the Mets (same for Kelley with the WS) as a second rounder. Those two ending up on rivals in the second round are the only thing about this year's draft that went "wrong" for the Cubs The post-draft Mets farm is one of the more exciting in the s...
