Re: Nick Castellanos is a bad mother[bleep]

Yeah, he's ready for this. They badly needed to find a bat or two this deadline and it looks like both Castellanos and Happ are serious about the whole professional baseball player thing

Fun fact: Castellanos hit .405/.461/.553 in High A

Re: No Tomorrow for Morrow

I liked it back then because I still trusted that the FO knew what they were doing when making FA signings, so the red flags didn’t bother me as much. Yeah, I basically completely ignored his usage by the Dodgers in the playoffs, especially from the perspective of his relatively stress free half de...

Re: No Tomorrow for Morrow

What a strange signing that both made all the sense and no sense at the same time. There's got to be a lesson in there about buying a competitor's dumpster dive reliever allowed him to hit FA after an extended and stressful non-dominant high usage run that results in his highest innings total in a h...

Badler's been on this guy for a while too, at 14: https://www.instagram.com/ben.badler/p/Bgzj_4CHDlx/ The long legs suggested alot of growth potential and here he is sometime last weekend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84IpLC0WBdM That's an impressive frame, like Davis-esque out of HS, wouldn't be...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I still dont think the game has caught up to Theo. He has evolved before. I think there is ebbs and flows to building a franchise and all FO will make some mistakes. If we have a few year spiral where Theo and company add on with even more mistakee then Ill agree that maybe be lost it. Only time.wi...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-20-19

Quietly an impressive debut for the 17 year old. Would imagine they take their time with him a little and assign him to Eugene next year, but I suppose it depends on how aggressive they are with promoting some of the 2019 Eugene SPs straight to Myrtle Beach. Quite a few guys need to be given legit ...

No Jensen for Eugene, shucks

2/4 with a 2B and a K for both Ademan and Amaya, definitely wouldn't mind Ademan finishing strong too

Ready or Not was a blast

Spoiler: show
My favorite is how they kept killing the servants, who otherwise were only trying to be good employees and help with no clue what was actually going on outside of the pianist

Also the cancelling of The Hunt is scary just on how easily and casually it was done

Re: Minor League Musings

Allard was hitting 95+ as a starter? That’s pretty big, if true. He was struggling to hit 90 consistently in the Braves system, last I saw. Sat 92-94 hit 95-96 with a changeup, curve, slider, and cutter behind him...Really goes to show how important being precociously young, healthy, having skills ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-20-19

The 20th could be Gallardo's last outing of the season....17 YO will walk into that outing with a 4.28 ERA/4.61 RA9 in a league where the average is 4.36/5.44, has 3 PAs against a hitter younger than him, his 3% HR/FB is strong, and a 12:3 K/BB in his last 5 outings (14.2 IP). He probably got capped...

Re: Why send Bote down?

Not liking this out of spite for some lame ass posts in your history. Canoe make more like this? We all know that post was a fluke ---- BTW what even is the hope for Bote over the next 4-5 years? Is he supposed to take Zobrist's spot? Push Bryant off 3B (ha! now that's funny) as a surprise Justin T...

Re: Why send Bote down?

Are you suggesting the Cubs were quick to ship Bote down to the minors? Maybe a little bit overboard? Maybe he had a row with a teammate or coach and the Cubs are giving him a stern punishment

Re: Minor League Musings

As a big believer that the general philosophy is to develop bats and buy putching, I like to follow non-Cubs pitching prospects closer than the bats and one of the potentially good ones is getting called up: AJ Puk will work out of the A's bullpen. Pre-TJ Puk was filthy, a giant lefty with a mid-upp...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-19-19

:beg: I guess it's notable that the Cubs rostered two 16 YOs in the DSL this year, both bats. The more productive one, OF Starlin Mateo, turned 17 in July, and has done things like hit the ball in the air and for some power in his handful dozens PAs. That makes Pinango the third youngest player in t...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-18-19

^ Feels like some changes have been made to Velazquez's swing, maybe less of an uppercut? 3/5 today I wonder if the Cubs did Alzolay a big disservice by essentially having him skip AA (he threw 32 innings over 7 starts during a brief callup in 2017) and go straight to the PCL for 2018+ --- 2/3 with ...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

I'd usually agree but MLB absolutely hates Angelos and I think they do anything they can to pry the team from him. MLB/Nats have been in a legal battle for the last couple years with the Orioles over the % shares from the MASN contract. Yep, like deep, and it's probably because Angelos is the close...

Luis Vazquez back with Eugene playing SS. Makes sense with the Weber/Ademan A ball SS duo making it impractical to give Vazquez reps there, he played 2B and 3B with SB. Martinez is easily the weakest glove of the bunch so kinda just works out, he can play 2B/3B/SS to get his PAs ---- Ethan Hearn, Ez...

Re: Minor League Musings

That high? For a guy with mediocre production who hadn't played full season ball yet? Is that common for them? Longenhagen and McDaniel don't have a production based projection system. They don't like his secondaries, had the breaking ball and changeup at potential 50 and 45 respectively. Here's th...
