Well no - more regular ERA and hits allowed vs the also pro ball relevant data working for him like his DIPs and batted ball profile.

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

But with the bolded, the big thing for everyone is whether or not you got the same vibe when you watched Ryan Kellogg, Kyle Twomey, or any of the other failed pitching prospects you fell in love with? Well no, Kellogg and Twomey were really well known HS recruits that never got better but I thought...

Re: The Manny Machado Thread

This year makes 3 of 4 years(not so coincidentally matching the start of his power surge/physical maturity) where he’s been average at 3B, poor at SS, or both. I’m open to the idea that a team can be optimistic and think of him as a primary backup, filling in a few games a year or maybe for a DL st...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-17-18

I'd like to see Marquez loosen up a pretty stiff delivery a little bit and do a better job keeping the ball in the park. The raw arm strength is appealing but there's more to the future potemtial job!

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-16-18

Woof, rough one for Ademan Eugenio Palma as a pro: 155.2 IP / 125 Hs / 4 HRs / 26 BBs / 134 Ks He's only in the NWL but is about the same age as a college draftee (21). At his pace it's hard to imagine a high ceiling but there's nothing really wrong with slow and steady if you're healthy with some s...

Re: The Manny Machado Thread

Has Machado *really* beyond a shadow of a doubt proven he can not play SS? Defensive stats like UZR and DRS require multiple (2-3+) years of sample rather than a couple months...I definitely prefer Harper by a huge margin but view Machado as a stud too.

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

It should be noted that no one in the media is calling Richan's fastball bad or slow. It's just been deemed as such here because 89-94 isn't exciting and he gave up what amounts to largely groundball singles in the hits allowed column. None of those three pitchers, hardly the pictures of consistency...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-15-18

All kidding aside, per AZ Phil, and I'm sure you know all this already, 88-91 on the FB, advanced change, developing curve, with good control of all offerings. Yeah that's not really what I'm looking to find out or see from video. He closes out his night with a K. At least three Ks were swinging, w...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-15-18

That is game changing speed.

Carrera's doing really well. I hope someome gets some video of him this summer.

Jonathan Soto seems interesting. LHH catcher with enough speed to try and fail stretching a double into a triple. He's 2-2 so far

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

He has less fastball than all of them, and doesn't even flash a plus secondary like each of those 3 you listed. Those are the big reasons why he was knocked around all year at the college level. It's not always a great thing to throw strikes when your stuff is as mediocre as Richan's. From what I s...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-15-18

Luis Verdugo belted two triples, scored twice, and collected an RBI, Richard Nunez drilled an RBI double and walked twice, and Erling Moreno, Riger Fernandez, and Chi-Feng Lee combined (albeit pitching for opposite squads) to hurl 6.2 IP of two-hit shutout ball, in a six-inning AZL mini-camp intras...

Kelli is listed as a switch hitter on Eugene's website. It would be nice for that to be legit.

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

In a world where we gave guys like Stinnet, Skulina, and Pierce Johnson the time of day for a few minutes, what's so bad about Richan? He's healthy, young, can hit 94, can locate it, healthy, can locate at least two other pitches, keeps the ball in the park, and missed bats this year. Plus he's not ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-14-18

Rucker also gave up his 8th HR this season (65 IP). That's bad. He's also on pace to throw 130+ innings this year. That's good. The HRs are why I don't love him as a straight SP prospect, at least for a good team, and more as a multi-inning reliever who can spot start.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-14-18

Jorge Remon is throwing well for a DSL Cubs squad and doesn't turn 18 until next February. Here's what Badler wrote: The Cubs in July gave $180,000 to Jorge Remon, a 17-year-old righthander from Panama. Remon is a projectable 6-foot-2, 160 pounds with a lively fastball that has reached 91 mph. Remon...

Amaya is 2/4 with a double and a K. Delvin Zinn is making his full season with South Bend at 3B. He's 2/4 with two Ks. Ricky Thomas with 4.2 IP, a BB, and 6 Ks as he continues a solid first full pro season.
