Re: Chris Bosio Fired

If it is Hickey I wonder if that means they’d really go hard after Cobb or McGee in FA or Odorizzi in a trade. Just get Archer please via trade Edit: So my reading comprehension is way off, though yeah in any trade they should aim higher than Odorizzi. McGee and Cobb should be serious FA targets, e...

Would love to see some impact arms from within as either SP or RP - but if Tseng is it, well then. Any chance of someone developing at a quicker rate than expected? Like to a couple of the college arms from the ‘16 draft? Jose Albertos if his arm doesn’t explode has the kind of talent to reach the ...

Also have to realize the core is still extremely young. The offense may not hit its peak for another 3 years. Eh, I’ll put my money on next year. Im sure next year will be great but 2020 when all these guys are like 27 and Rizzo is like 30 or 31 might be the true peak with Bryce Harper in RF. Yeah ...

People who don't understand advanced metrics are endlessly frustrating. I just spent 20 minutes explaining to a Cards fan why Molina likely won't get into the HOF using Ozzie Smith as a comparison point and the idiot still didn't understand how enormous the gap between what Ozzie did defensively vs...

Thoughts on the college QBs definitely or possibly entering the draft next year? Right now I would say my favorite is Mason Rudolph but what's up with this Baker Mayfield guy?

Yeah, the escape and throw on 3rd and 11 is a flash of what could be. Mobile, good vision, and a strong as hell arm to make that throw without his feet underneath him. Yes Caveat: we need a new coach and wr’s I was already a non-believer because of the whole one year starter thing, but just from a ...

Re: Rank the Bullpen Potential...

Mills, Tseng, Zastrzny, Alzolay, Hatch, and Rucker will all start next year. I have doubts Butler is in the org. Maples and Carasiti will each have their shot next year one way or another, maybe one even makes an impact. Clifton could do well with a move to the pen. Mekkes, Brooks, and Ricky Tyler T...

Yeah i might be aiming too high. I was thinking you could get a discount for taking on that contract, but actually zId rather wait and give Harper our own dumb contract. Are there any realistic pieces we could pluck? Yelich's contract isnso good i doubt theyd move him in a "cost saving" m...

Less now but Beltran would have made that lineup ungodly and helped avoid the gajillions spent on non-Beltrans that occupied CF.

I just noticed Kris Bryant's K rate fell below 20% this year. It's a'comin, hopefully starting with this NLCS against those hacks in LA.

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

Few pitchers have made a bigger splash with one four-inning outing in Rookie ball than Albertos did in 2016 in the Rookie-level Arizona League. The Cubs shut the right-hander down after that start because he had forearm soreness, but it was enough for those who saw him to believe that he might have...

Alzolay has put in work on his body: https://mobile.twitter.com/IsItTheWelsh/status/917959025395769344/video/1 He looks lean and strong without being too stiff, though there is stiffness. Hotter take is that he seems like a control over command guy - capable of throwing strikes but not spot them, so...

I just feel like Peralta is just such a lazy comparison. Eh, I could see them being pretty similar in a scenario where Paredes sticks at SS. Hit before power guys who aren't punchless, make lots of contact, take some walks, and while not one of the popular pretty boys at the position a first divisi...

You'll get higher quality scrap heap pickups like Brandon Morrow off a ~league min salary year and Oh off a down year and like it.

Re: BA's Top Prospects by League

What did they say about Paredes? Basically the next Kinsler and the Cubs' Jay Buhner? Probably He got a Jhonny Peralta comp. That's reasonable for a positive scenario. There's a lot of similarities in terms of bad body but the ability to be steady defensively. Not sure Paredes will hit with as much...
