Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Hard pass on Salazar for Happ. I like Salazar’s arm despite all the injuries but not nearly enough to give up one of the MLers. These pre-injured (as always this means major arm surgeries) pitchers are all fun and games on low commit deals for relatively low responsibility gigs like locking down the...

Re: Marcell Ozuna Traded to the Cardinals

I'll just stick this here....Cards traded Piscotty to the A's, which puts him closer to his mom, who was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year. I have a feeling that Piscotty bounces back and that he'll produce well enough to make people wonder why the Cardinals bothered with this Piscotty/Ozuna swa...

Re: Christian Yelich

I am mildly curious, based off the Ozuna trade, what they would be targeting with a Yelich deal. Yelich would make the entire starting outfield plus the starting 2B for the Marlins. He’s their most valuable trade chip so I could see the conversation starting with Almora + Happ with a full season ba...

Re: Winter Meetings 2017 thread

Tomorrow is the rule V. Anyone interesting? We’ve talked about Burdi, an easy injury stash with an arm. RHP Jose Almonte from the D’Backs and LHP Jordan Guerrero from the White Sox seem interesting but not sure this is the roster for them. Twins RH Jake Reed might have a shot as a sinkerballer.

Re: Bullpen Options

It really might just be easiest to trade for Britton and some other O’s arm. I know the hope is Gausman but I imagine they’d like to hold onto their healthiest high ceiling SP.

Actually the easiest route is signing Reed.

Jeebus, all the pre-injured pitchers this offseason. I get it since none of these guys are breaking the bank and depth is an issue, but Salazar seems like he might be expensive. The Indians should be cool and hand over Triston McKenzie.

Nice, keep piling up on depth until Stroman or Archer shake free.

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

There are two guys in Stroman and Archer on the cusp of hitting the trade market at some point between this past November and the 2018 summer trade deadline. They’re both better than Fulmer even before his elbow went under the knife. Given that the team has a top tier offense and three playoff calib...

Re: "horsefeathers looks like The Thing" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

I’m all for Schwarber-Bryant-Rizzo at the top of the lineup next year. Yup and Almora at leadoff vs LHP. Wouldn’t mind pitcher batting 8th in Schwarber leadoff games either and Russell or Zobrist hitting 9th. Pass, Schwarber’s going to mash and if anyone it’s Contreras or Bryant vs LHs. JMHT I thin...

Re: Winter Meetings 2017 thread

Archer’s not my favorite - that would be Stroman - but he’s fine. Fastball velocity was in line with his career and better than 2016, he drew whiffs with the pitch at a higher rate than in 2016, his underused changeup has drawn whiff rates in the low teens as well as ground balls and pop ups...all t...

That is one brutal 11-20 following a soft 1-10. I’m just fingers crossed on one or more of Lange and Albertos as SPs and one of these 2015-201? IFA bats show up sometime next decade. Thank goodness gracious the Cubs have Kris Bryant.

Re: Cubs Close to Signing Morrow

I’m optimistic about the health of Morrow’s arm. He has avoided the major arm surgeries (TJ, rotator cuff, labrum), career high fastball velocity, dominant periods, and his past as a raw but valuable ML SP (9.2 fWAR over 450 IP as a ML SP, 26% K rate, avg 94 MPH fastball with 99 MPH peaks). That sai...

Also allowed 12 more HRs during the regular season in just 10 more IP.

Id like to think it finally time for one of the Jays or Rays to cough up Stroman or Archer.
