Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-23-17

Bruzal's 41 Ks, 0 HRs, and 37 hits allowed in 39.1 IP this year suggest some potential if he can keep staying healthy. Maybe noteworthy he's stayed healthy walking nearly a batter per IP (35) this year. I'm really hoping between he, Carrera, Vargas, Marquez, and Ferrera(? Can't rememeber) there's a ...

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

Zack Short was identified as a Matt Carpenter profile in the minor leagues. These are guys who make high a high amount of contact and are also extreme fly ball hitters and whose tools might escape scouts to a degree. Short has a swstr% of just 6.4 and a GB of 28.7 This is the blurb Zack Short, howe...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-22-17

Mike: SSS, but seems like Aramis Ademan is holding his own in A ball. Thoughts on him? Eric A Longenhagen: I really like him. Good frame, athleticism, smooth defensive actions at short. Has doubles power right now but might grow into a bit more. That might mean he moves off of short and over to sec...

Re: Game of Thrones

Do the free folk have something else cool up their sleeve beyond being the free folk? Badass rides like bears and elk maybe? Any living giants? The Night Kung has giants. Yeah but pretty sure they're giant wights. Was Wun Wun the last living giant? I want to say they mentioned whether he was or was...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-21-17

3-5 with a HR for Mr. Ademan, who has 6 hits over his past two games (10 ABs). Sign of a great FO that this 18 YO SS was able to slide into full season and be productive after they traded another productive 18 YO full season SS. That 2015 IFA class was something.

Re: Game of Thrones

Maybe it's because I am a casual fan who has not read the books but Arya's been the worst this season outside of murdering the Freys. As if eating like an horsefeathers on TV to show how rough and tumble she's become wasn't bad enough, I don't fully understand why she's mind horsefeathering her sist...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-20-17

Ademan seems like he could be next year's breakout bat. He hasn't even taken 100 PAs with SB yet but he's been very productive, obviously was outstanding with Eugene.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-19-17

I just realized a more ballyhooed arm than Mills in Oscar de la Cruz also threw 2 perfect innings (1 K) for his rehab assignment with the AZL Cubs. Eugenio Palma is having a pretty competent career and season so far as a multi-inning LHRP for the AZL Cubs. Pretty exciting to see both de la Cruz and...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-19-17

Alec Mills lives and threw a couple of perfect innings with 2 Ks for the AZL Cubs. Big news

AZL Cubs 1-4 hitters for game one of a DH are all 17-18 YOs either making their stateside or pro debuts this summer. 1 SS and 3 OFs

Re: The Book Thread

So I read High Life by Matthew Stokoe a while ago and recently got this itch to read more of his books. High Life was an insane read and left a big impression. It sucks I lost my copy. 2014's Colony of Whores is $350+ on Amazon and replacing my copy of High Life with a used copy would cost much more...

Throw enough horsefeathers against the wall, hopefully 2-3 stick. Yeah but less general - high pedigree, relatively high onus arms with louder tools like Estrada, Lange, and (relative to your typical Mexican prospect) Albertos are not something this org has actively gone after until extremely recen...

Switch hitting 17 YO SS Josue Huma is putting up an interesting enough ~11% K rate in the DSL right now to go with an 8% walk rate.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-14-17

A rare fairly straightforward solid outing for a Cubs pitching prospect from Hatch. 5 IP, a couple hits, 6 Ks, a couple walks, a 4/2 GO/AO, and a pop up/IFFB.

Lange with a pop up and a couple Ks.
