Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-20-18

HR for Josue Huma

Multi-hit game for Gutierrez, Didier Vargas K'd 7 in 5 giving him 38 in 46.1 for the AZL Cubs

Matt Liberatore from this past draft is dominating the GCL, always fun when a guy matches the hype

Swarmer with 8 Ks through 3.2, was perfect through 3 with 7 then gave up a hit.

Pereda hit HR #8

Jose Gutierrez had a multi hit game, Amaya went 1/3 with a walk

Re: It’s not me, it’s Yu

It actually makes me wonder if they have the stomach to even sign a Harper this offseason. That’s just silly. At some point the payroll starts to add up. Sure but more important is the money hasn’t run out. Boohoo the team’s breaking a sweat to the best record in the NL with these three burdens

I suggest a trade for Bridgewater. That could be fun.

Mack's going to be Jet guys so don't get your hopes up.

This is me trying to get excited about the NFL.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-18-18

Faustino Carrera gave up his 4th HR in 55+ IP this year. It was the only hit allowed over 6 with 6 Ks and a couple first inning walks. Retired 10 in a row including coming back from 3-0 for the K (curveball at 76) to probably close the outing Nelson Velazquez singled, stole his tenth base, and event...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-14-18

I have serious doubts Lange hitting 93 or 94 would be seen was flukish by the pros. Looking around no one has said he hasn't hit 96 since his freshman year or anything, just not sitting 94-96. There is not a whole lot of 22 year olds maintaining SP traits, including showing clear progress on at leas...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-14-18

It's been his 4-seam velocity for several years now. He doesn't touch any higher than that. Not sure this is true so much as he hasn’t sat 93-96 like he may have as a freshman Which part? There is ample evidence that he hasn't been more than 90-92 for the past 3 baseball seasons. He could have touc...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-14-18

90-92 fastball for Lange, on a good day, isn't super inspiring. I've been surprised that after all the curveball buzz, that he hasn't K'd more guys. K-rate hasn't been bad, or anything, but given how few A-ballers can hit average curves, much less excellent ones, I'd have figured he'd have a few mo...

Re: Cubs Acquire Cole Hamels for Eddie Butler, Rollie Lacy & PTBNL

So in 2015 I went on a rant to some guy who worked for some team at a MiL game that if the Cubs added Heyward, Hamels, and Chapman they would be monstrous. They have now acquired all three so this counts as me being right. 5 credits, please! 10 if all three are on WS winners!

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-14-18

Marquez gave up his 5th HR in 41 IP tonight but was otherwise strong. I check Eugene for Nelson Velazquez but he’s been cold this week. Luis Vazquez really really went cold some rime ago, is still that so far tonight. —- Brennen Davis is low key hitting .298 with a .431 OBP, ~16% K rate, and 6 SBs i...

Lange needs 20 good pounds on that frame. That last pitch, four seam up and away, was very well executed and set up.

Re: The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

I just really don't see us trading Heyward, and I also don't see us going with a Schwarber-Heyward-Harper outfield, as much fun as the lineups would be. I think if we sign Harper then we will trade Schwarber, which meas we should be able to get a good SP back. This crossed my mind yesterday, especi...

Re: The way too early, but I'm bored, Off-season Options Thread

I mean this entirely seriously, I want to keep Heyward. We can still fit Bryce in with him and I’ll buy in he’s figured it out enough offensively and he’s still good on defense. Plus I think he’s an awesome teammate and clubhouse guy. I'm optimistic about Heyward as a player in general, so sure. He...

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

So in a season where Amaya is the only guy to really set a badass track to the majors, this Richard Gallardo signing has really caught my interest. He became the highest ranked amateur pitcher this FO has signed and the highest ranked amateur they’ve brought in since Happ in 2015. I wonder where sco...
