Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

I was just joshing around a little with the fat thing. My #hottake first impression of the body was a bat first 2B or a 3B. Maitan would be a huge add for this system.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I am a big fan of the coaching changes this offseason. Not that the dismissed coaches were bad, the new hires have a little extra going for them. While Bosio was a first time PC both Hickey and Mitchell have long track records of success, Hickey managing one of the more badass pitching staffs of the...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Leaving everything aside for a moment, I'd argue that their young positional/hitting core looks more interesting than what they have on the arm side. Adames is there, along with McKay. Jesus Sanchez might be Victor Robles, and Justin Williams had such a strong year last year. There's high floor guy...

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

I wouldn’t completely eliminate them trading pool money either. They’re at a point where maybe spending on IFAs that aren’t ML ready is less valuable to them than say a team like say, randomly picked out of a hat, the Rays or Jays. I have no idea what the 2018-2019 IFA period has lined up. That sai...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/brewers-rumors-jake-arrieta.html All of those positive signs now have the Brewers in position to vie for an NL Central title next season, which should prompt the front office to be more willing to spend than it has been in recent years. We’ve not yet seen a Dav...

Re: ITT: Raisin & Tom/King Kong Obsess Over Shohei Otani

23 GS / 3.55 ERA / 139 IP / 122 Hs / 161 Ks / 61 BBs / 16 HRs

Those are Ohtani’s 2018 ZiPs projections as a pitcher.

Re: Pre-Season 10 Simpsons Discussion (Formerly The Simpsons are on FXX!)

So does Frink’s son die and his wife divorce him after “Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?” I don't know if he dies, but trying to explain how you accidentally had your young son fly out a window... she's probably gone and taking the son with her. It happened to be on at some point this weekend. See...

Re: Offseason Transactions

The Giants made an offer for Stanton and are willing to take on a good chunk of his contract according to Rosenthal That's the one team all along that was likely to eat most of the contract. Problem is, will the Marlins settle, prospect wise? Heliot Ramos is probably their most intriguing upside ca...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

It wouldn't surprise me, if Archer (or Stroman, or another young, cost-controlled arm was on the market) if a) Washington Nationals put up Victor Robles or Trea Turner in a package. I don't expect the Nationals to want to move either Robles or Turner, but Mike Rizzo might be one of the few GM's out...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Well, yes, no team is going to prioritize pitching prospects in any trade with the Cubs right now, but I'd imagine, due to how their system stacks right now, that they might prefer an upper level pitching prospect. Perhaps Alzolay is that guy and I'm just remarkably wary on him. Russell would trump...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

I think it's unlikely that they'll turn down a trade for Russell because of Adames being there. You make it work someway, somehow. If they don't want Russell, it'll be because of concerns about Russell, not because of Adames being there, if that makes sense. I'm not convinced that they'll go for Ja...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

For toonsterwu or anyone else who follows other teams' systems, do you think the presence of Adames would affect how the Rays view Russell, or would they fit well together up the middle? Also I know Archer will make more than Russell the next few years but is it possible Addison would catch or surp...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

I am the walrus: Agree or not? The Cubs will likely sign a lower FA pitcher (Cobb), sign a lower end closer (Reed), sign a middle rp (Mcgee) or two, send a regular (Happ) for a fairly high ceiling young pitcher and spend around $30M of there $70 salary they have to spend. 12:56 Dave Cameron: I thin...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Britton to go with Morrow and McGee is plan A for me as far as the bullpen. There are multiple Britton alternatives - Iglesias and Osuna come to mind. If you get Britton, I think I'd be off McGee. You'd have Wilson and Monty as lefties, with Britton too. Grab Morrow and another Righty at that stage...
