Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

That FA threatening a hold out HAS to be Arrieta. For one a pitcher is far and away the most likely position to gain any on field benefit from doing this, and then he’s like the only pitcher in FA left that hasn’t had his arm sliced open to fix it. Balls of steel Arrieta. I knew I liked that guy, st...

Re: Jagoff About Willson Contreras Here, You Lazy Jerkoffs

Willson is lined up for some big things this year. Dude was a monster when on the field in the second half. .418 wOBA with a 17% K rate as a C! He’ll play this year at 26!

Re: 2017-18 NFL Playoffs

Jets fired Morton. Nice to see a tough, correct call by this otherwise hapless org based on analytics. His offense ranked 24th overall per FO, 22nd and 26th against the pass. By comparison under Bowles and Gailey in 2015 they finished 14th with a top 10 passing game using the same metrics. Plus he ...

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

I’m thinking the Zimmermann deal + inflation + Darvish is better...5/125 maybe 5/130. Yu should damn that TJ surgery, damn it to heck, if he really really wants 6-7 years.

Crazy that Darvish and Martinez aren’t tied to the QO and this is still going

Re: Bears 2018 Offseason: Matt Nagy Hired as Head Coach

Yeah, Vea's strictly a NT. I’d wait for the combine on this. These size/speed freaks do everything. Vea’s been getting Ngata comps, that was a guy who played DE, DT, and dropped into zone coverage in a given moment, and even played some offense. Not sure where the Bears are on OL but Brian O’Neill ...

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

I’m struggling to think of anyone’s incentive to give Darvish 6-7 years, particularly with such a concerted effort by teams in FA that is definitely not in any way collusion. Barry Bonds didn’t feel like playing anymore. Maybe there’s a shot the Twins, only now beginning to recover from just getting...

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

Wow, Lange’s delivery in 2017 looks so different (and IMO much better) from the 2016 one above: https://i.makeagif.com/media/1-16-2018/hHcd1d.gif The 2017 has some Carlos Carrasco to it. The 2016 version looks like a reliever or a BOR starter with a tendency to leave the fastball up. He definitely g...

Re: Bears 2018 Offseason: Matt Nagy Hired as Head Coach

Interesting feedback on Fuller...Guess I’ll have to hope the Jets can steal Gaines because no thanks on big money defense this year. Great to hear that he got it back together after a down year maybe two. The other Bears player I’m curious about - how is Leonard Floyd coming along? Raw - big Marcus ...

The idea that they REALLY WANTED Ohtani and eventually Harper and then REALLY REALLY wanted Harper after losing out on Ohtani is probably not without merit.

Re: THE Bryce Harper in 2018 Thread

If I was a betting man, I'd take Chicago vs. the field next year. I'm weirdly sure that Harper will come to the Cubs and that it won't be an agonizing decision Agreed, since the second they lost Ohtani actually. what's ohtani have to do with it Neither of us wants to take the time to figure out wha...

Re: McCutchen to the Giants

That's a pretty crappy return honestly for a player on a 1-year deal. I probably would've just held on to him, and maybe try moving him at the trade deadline this upcoming season. Then again, JD Martinez was killing it last year and the Tigers still received a horsefeathers return for him. I no ide...

Re: McCutchen to the Giants

You guys will enjoy it so I will say it - I still refer to Glasnow as tall future Chris Archer. Their control as prospects throws/threw the scent off but I believe in guys who combine healthy power arms with starter workloads and the kind of K, H, and HRs rates these two did at the ages they have.

Re: McCutchen to the Giants

I admire their willingness to gut it but this is going to be a long 2+ years that can easily last longer for Pirates fans. I don’t hate either return (individually I’ve liked Musgrove Reynolds and Crick for a while) but all have some massive likely crushing flaws and only Musgrove has had any ML suc...

Re: 2017-18 NFL Playoffs

Watching these games has me convinced the era of rhe franchise QB is dying. I’m also fully convinced Kirk Cousins is going to be a successful FA signing for someone.

Re: Bears 2018 Offseason: Matt Nagy Hired as Head Coach

Thoughts on Kyle Fuller? He’s hitting FA and I’m a fan of VT DBs not named Jimmy Williams. How did he hold up physically on the Bears? Would you take him over say an EJ Gaines in FA?

With the understanding that this is standard there were plenty of trade targets who did not come to terms today. Stroman and Osuna, Gausman, Rivero with the Pirates, and Bauer stood out.

Re: Starting Pitching candidates

Badass move by the Astros if/when they pull this off. I think Cole has another gear or two in him, love the ingredients (no surgeries on a power arm with his track record and pedigree). His changeup is a pitch on the way up.
