Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 5-27-17

You know NSBB, all about the tools and never stats. I mean, it's not exactly all stats never tools. It's still May 2017 and the topic has even come up multiple times this year alone. I really enjoy the angle that my comment to a hot dog vendor or whatever in 2015 was made in hindsight based solely ...

He'd also been popular due to tools scouting reports upside ceiling, not even so long ago. I'd say he became outright unpopular maybe a year now, give or take a couple months on either side.

Yet another prediction come true after the fact . You're good you. The hits keep on coming I know. You're amazing. You even knew I was going to write about Nostradamus before I did it. That's spooky good. You see everything coming . Well that is the implication in having opinions about baseball pro...

1/4 with a BB and HBP for Paredes today

I wonder if Wilson will be assigned to Eugene when they open? Unless I'm not paying attention it doesn't seem he's been in the lineup for South Bend lately.

He's given up 11 hits with 35 Ks in 25.2 IP

It's fun when a pitcher just overwhelms the competition. I'm hoping he's out of the A ball levels altogether by August.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 5-27-17

Would anyone believe me if I said that I said Jimenez was the next big thing in the system to an employee of the Cubs in 2015? Why wouldn't anyone believe you? He was the number 1 overall international free agent. And unless that employee was a hot dog vendor, most Cubs employees were thinking the ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 5-27-17

South Bend is facing a pretty popular HS arm from last year's draft, Reggie Lawson, for the second game of the DH. He's their future Oscar de la Cruz. In hindsight, I really liked Lawson on draft day and he's bad or anything, not exactly the kind of arm I'm looking for.

Would anyone believe me if I said that I said Jimenez was the next big thing in the system to an employee of the Cubs in 2015? Almost two years later I'm really starting to believe it. Even going past this season's numbers for a second, he's a 6'4" 215+lb 20 YO former IFA, top one in his class,...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Sonny Gray‘s two most recent starts for the Athletics have altered his stock in a hurry, writes ESPN’s Buster Olney. Gray’s struggles over the past 13 to 14 months have been tied not only to injury but to a (quite possibly related) drop in his swinging-strike rate, but he’s racked up swings-and-mis...

Not really avoiding with 4 hits in those two innings, no?

Martinez is 2-2 too

Tseng with a quality outing so far - 4 IP, 5 Ks, 1 BB, 2 Hs...50 IP, 40 Ks, 8 BBs, 4 HRs, 4 Hs this season. All hands on deck for trade season!

Re: 2017 Draft Thread

Odorizzi has been a 2-3 WAR guy. If you end up getting a consistent, durable 2-3 WAR guy at end of round 1, that's not bad. But if that's the prospect's ceiling? Different story. Few guys reach or sustain their ceiling, so if that's the best you might possible get, and there is an 80% probability t...

If you told me right now we could guarantee ourselves 2, 2-3 WAR players at 27 and 30 right now and give up all upside and downside for being locked in to that, I'd take it every time.

Re: Cubs trading Soler to KC for Wade Davis

What I will say is that I proposed Soler + Grimm for Justin Wilson before the season and let's just say, the idea was not met with positive responses. Who cares. No big deal. But JFC that would have been a coup. Wilson has been ridiculous. Now he's gonna get a massive haul if they move him at the d...
