Re: Technology Chit-Chat

Pretty cool article on machine learning and AI. It's really depressing that humans can no longer beat AI at chess, but at least we still reign supreme in StarCraft (the most demanding game mentally right now).

https://twitter.com/jimcallisMLB/status/1058040478933835776 Fastest runner Cristian Pache, OF, Braves The Fall League seems to have more well above-average runners than usual, which helps explain why teams are averaging 1.5 stolen bases per game this fall, up from 0.9 in 2017. There's no true conse...

Re: 2018 AFL

Last thing is speed can be measured, but I didn't have a time and I haven't seen one online. A 4.1 time to first is very good and matches what I saw on film. Should be rated a plus in running if that's his normal time. Also, seems like a better runner underway once he gets going like KB. I don't ex...

Re: 2018 AFL

Fangraphs has him as a 70/70 on speed. I’d assume that’s based on some numbers they have access to or talked to guys about and this is likely Law just going all in one way on a guy that he does often. You guys know how I feel about rankings and those scouting grades! As far as I can tell this and L...

Talks about how bored he looks out there and is trying to have fun/take big swings to entertain the crowds. Chica...

There are Jewish Imams though. Jewish by ethnicity and Muslim by religion. I get what you're saying.

N. Hoerner. I'm hearing great things about this kid. Is it too soon to get hyped? He's good, although in terms of overall value, good in the way that Happ or Almora can be good, compared to say, Bryant or Baez or Contreras. I mentioned it on draft night, but a good outcome would be the type of valu...

Re: The Multi Inning Reliever Thread

I think if we want someone in this multi-inning role we should look to Tampa Bay and what they've been doing. They have a lot of interesting relievers. I like Ryne Stanek, but it's going to be hard to acquire him. Also, Eovaldi will be signed as a starter and the Cubs should stay far away from him. ...

Re: The Multi Inning Reliever Thread

No one is talking about making Edwards a starter, the thought is that since he was a starter through most of his minor league career and he wasn't converted because he failed at it, that he might be a good fit to be a multi-inning fireman. Oh okay. Ah, so I don't think he has good enough command to...

Re: The Multi Inning Reliever Thread

there was always the thought Edwards Jr. had the stuff to be a starter, is it just not possible he could withstand this type of role? even still his health can't be less dependable than some names listed like Chatwood, Smyly, Eovaldi I think in the abstract that makes sense, but I also have a sneak...

Bailey Clark is the only Cub playing the AFL All-Star Game. It'll be on Saturday on the MLB Network. Not sure what Giambrone and Hoerner did to get snubbed. You can vote Nico in: https://twitter.com/mlbpipeline/status/1056986274261803008?s=21 Nico is most definitely getting into the game now. This ...
