Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

Matt Swarmer was a 19th-rounder in 2016 out of Kutztown (a small PA school which has given us John Mobley, Andre Reed, Ryan Vogelsong, and my high-school chem teacher, end of list) who fits an archetype targeted by the Cubs many times in recent drafts: deceptive college arms. Swarmer’s delivery, wh...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 8-20-18

So outside of Adbert Alzolay, I think Marquez is the best pitching prospect in our system. That's not a good sign. I think the earliest his ETA for reaching the big league team is late 2020 and that's being super optimistic. Are you saying it's not a good sign because he's far away? Yeah. The close...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

This is a very very fringe rumor that will probably be shot down in like 2 seconds but there are people on twitter discussing Daniel Murphy and the Cubs. Joel Sherman did report a few mins ago that a team that was not the Yankees claimed Murphy but that’s it for legitimate news sources and obviousl...

I was going to see if I could log in using passwords like "Neifi123" or "Spankingit" but the language on the login page scared me We all the know the password would be Boston-centric like " Nomahwasoverrated" or "BigPapidarealMVP" or something like that... ht...

Re: The Cardinals

Cubs fans are in no position to take the high ground on racial equality. Having witnessed what Baker, Hawkins, Fukudome, etc. went through, I can only hope we have progressed and these examples are the miminorities of our fanbase as are the Cards fans highlighted here. Cubs fandom is very large and...

It's cute how so many media observers (even liberal ones) think that moderator/host prep matters so much. Real time fact checking doesn't even horsefeathering matter. When will it just be accepted that asymmetrical disinformation campaigns aren't about fostering debate? It's about flooding the airw...

Re: The Cardinals

Honestly is there a more racist fan base in sports outside of people who like NASCAR? I watched people on this forum make gay jokes for years. There are great and terrible fans for all teams. Bader is an excitingly young player that is fun to watch right now. I don’t think any reasonable fan expect...

.380babip and making overall worse contact this year than last. Clearly his numbers are totally sustainable. His offensive profile is kinda Almoraish Yeah, but there is just something about Bader that the Cardinal fans like more than Almora. https://discourse-cdn-sjc1.com/imgur/uploads/default/orig...

I can't embed it because it's reddit hosted video, but this is good. https://www.reddit.com/r/mlb/comments/97ybse/no_bat_flip_tonight/ That is awesome! I've never seen that before, but was that a bat flip in disgust or from hitting a dong? I couldn't tell if Castellanos got enough of it or if it's ...

But he can definitely play 2B and possibly corner OF.

Yeah, he was drafted as a 2B and I know he can play there. Not surprised he's good at 1B when he's capable of playing harder positions defensively.

Not a great list for sure, but just going with the consensus doesn't make you stand out or get clicks. It's not a great list, but who cares about the middle or bottom part of the list. Keegan Thompson at #2 is laughably high. I do like Jonathan Sierra and he has a nice swing and some talent. I think...

Re: Monty to DL

Kinda surprised they are going with Chatwood starting tomorrow no matter what and not seeing how tonight plays or with bullpen usage...... If Chavez isn’t needed tonight start him and try and cobble together 5-6 competent innings from him, De La Rosa, Randy, or even Cishek as an “opener.” Only use ...

Bob Bote: In the ninth inning, I was downstairs folding clothes. I watched every pitch until [Ryan] Zimmerman got his base hit, then I got up and I said, 'The game is over.' I started folding some laundry. https://uproxx.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/mad-men-gif-not-great-bob.gif?w=650

Criticize it and dismiss it all you want, but the great dark purge seems to have really lifted morale in that clubhouse. Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

it's kind of worrying that the only remedy we've heard suggested so far is for him to not play baseball. i'd almost feel better if they just said he's going to have surgery in the offseason. It's WAY better that surgery isn't necessary or a possible option right now. Trust me on this one -- just lo...
