Re: RE: Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

So it was my wife's turn to pick a movie and she wanted me to watch Desperately Seeking Susan. It was fine, it was quirky and cheesy, typical 80s stuff. But I was really surprised by some of the cast and bit players. Laurie Metcalf, John Turturro, Stephen Wright, and I even spotted Giancarlo Esposi...

Re: RE: Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Edwards down, maybe Wick up? His season has been handled wonderfully so far. I mean, he’s been all over the place all season. If he can’t be trusted to come into a high leverage situation without major control issues, he’s going to be treated like just another guy. For his career he has a 5.27 FIP ...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Trade targets 2019

Sounds like the Castellanos chatter is heating up. He makes some sense, but he seems like a great distillation of what I haven’t liked about most of the Cubs’ trades in recent years. Castellanos can hit, but he’s a DH/bad corner OF. If that profile is what you need, why not try to find someone who ...

Re: RE: Re: Trade targets 2019

Leury Garcia isn't good. wRC+ of 92, before this season he has had one year with a fWAR > 0 and that was 1.2. He's actually making less hard contact this year than last. I'd rather gamble on Happ then deal for Garcia. Marte is the only desirable CF option available. That contract makes it hard to l...

I've never looked at a players fg page under pitch type and seen XX for unknown pitch. But that must be it. That pitch is horsefeathering dirty. Props to the Rays for giving the 32 year old a chance and having him let it rip.

I want Puig [emoji2960]

He's scorching hot right now leading the NL in wRC+ over the last 30 days (coming into today KB and Heyward were tied for 2nd!). Why not capitalize. He's not platoon dependent. He can play COF well. He should be a relatively cheap rental given his reputation.

The pitching plan seems to be to bore lineups into submission These guys talked about power pitching way back when they were hired...This year’s pitching seems less that than ever even if Darvish ends up good to go Did they, though? I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but I don't recall that being...

I wonder if the Marlins would deal Garrett Cooper. I was intrigued in May but I figured he would cool off. Hes done the opposite. May wRC+ 112 June 165 July 181 Hes 28 with just 1 year of service time. Looks to be playable in COF. Not looking like a platoon guy either. The fact that his breakout ha...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Anyone know anything about Alex Dickerson? Dude is 29 years old. The lowest wOBA he ever posted in the minors is 365 in A+, absolutely raked at every level. The only real shot he got at the Majors was 2016 with the Padres and he put up a 111 wRC+ in just under 300 PA, but nonetheless became a AAAA t...

Team ERA- by year:

Are you talking about Willson Contreras? The converted infielder who has been the primary catcher the past four years? You are disappointed they handed the keys to him, 4 years ago? Four years they've largely spent in 1st place and been among the best teams in baseball. That disappoints you? I don'...

My disappointment would (so far this is all internet spec and I might be getting miffed for nothing) largely lie in handing the keys to the one of the worst receivers in the league whom hasn't shown much interest in improving his game. Are you talking about Willson Contreras? The converted infielde...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Martin Maldonado to Cubs

I’m fine letting some team dream on him being a starting caliber catcher and selling highish. He has a career 87 wRC+, he’s most likely a career backup. Dude he didn't have nearly enough career PA to give a horsefeathers about that number. I mean that's ridiculous. 260 PA. He is killing it accordin...

Re: RE: Re: Martin Maldonado to Cubs

If they trade Vic, they damn well better get something pretty good. He can hit, is a switch-hitter decent from both sides, and his overall D and framing have really improved this season. I’m fine letting some team dream on him being a starting caliber catcher and selling highish. He has a career 87...
