Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

...how? The alternative to a hit thought a normal shift is an out into a heavy shift. In both cases, the HR-BB-K totals remain the same. Incentives. More and more guys have responded to the shift with trying to hit OVER the shift. That's more uppercut swings, with more Ks, BBs, and dongs. Raise the...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

I agree its easier said than done, but the shift certainly isn't causing more true outcomes, is my point. The players that get the shift applied on them are the hitters that are unlikely to alter their approach...and those are the hitters that tend to be the true-outcome-heavy batters. There are re...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

The shift sucks too and should be banned, or at least curtailed. 3B/SS need to stay on 3B side of 2B, 2B/1B need to stay on 1B side of 2B and OF can’t come in past a point to avoid still doing a 3 infielder thing. It’s not that hard to legislate and would lead to more hits/action. I hate not allowi...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Ben Lindbergh has been pretty compelling in laying this out as the best way to fix the strikeout problem. So even if that's wrong, it's certainly worth the experiment.

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

exactly. We are at the point where if you want one you can get one. States and counties are shutting down sites due to lack of demand. America's idiocy is taking over now. This will just be an excuse that selfish people who weren't going to get one will use to justify not getting one. Not-so-funny ...

Steele got some hype as possibly having become a spin rate monster during quarantine, and looks like the data from his debut is bearing that out

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

By Fangraphs' numbers, the Cubs have given up nearly half their playoff odds already. They were at just under 1/4 to open the season, now they're just over 1/8.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

I wish I knew how to link the video of Acuna beating out a routine grounder to SS. He's worth 1 WAR after just 9 games. https://twitter.com/MLBStats/status/1381386840448569344?s=19 The one thing keeping him from being NL Mike Trout was contact, and early on his K rate is down to 15%. He's incredible.

A second controller, a $20 gift card, the Miles Morales Spider-Man game, the Avengers game, and the latest Hitman . Not a bad haul. The Avengers game is meh outside of the main story but its cool to see it with PS5 resolution. That free Astro's Playroom game is actually pretty damn good, though sho...

Pfizer 1 is done. Nothing to really compare it to but the Gallagher Way site was impressive. In and out in like 15 minutes. Just finished mine. It was 20 for me, but only because I was the last person in my "pod" to get stuck. But really incredible operation. Imagine if all of our public ...

Rocker’s dip in velocity — which could easily be temporary — and Jaden Hill‘s partially torn UCL have changed the complexion of the top of the board. Gunnar Hoglund of Ole Miss has emerged as the next best college pitcher, just one strikeout behind Leiter for the Division I lead, followed by Ty Mad...

Re: BOLD Predictions

I'm all in on Tommy Hottovy as some Dr. Erskine type scientist who is able to wring everything out of our pitching staff. I'm taking the over on expectations for basically everyone on the pitching side I'm softer on the hitting. I don't think they're going to crater, but there's going to be a lot of...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

My wife gets her second shot this afternoon. My two best friends (and their wives) are already vaccinated. My wife's closest friends (and most of their husbands) are vaccinated. It might be a month before I can get mine, but it's a huge relief to know I'm basically vaccinated by proxy at this point.

Re: On Bended Knee - The Rizzo Thread

Like others have said $70M is probably about right. And honestly guaranteeing that a year out it might be a little generous, purely by the math. Rizzo is *the* guy on this team, and so he clearly deserves more than what his FG page dictates. But starting a negotiation at $70M knowing it'll end up at...

https://twitter.com/enosarris/status/1376542737625870336?s=19 4. The Cubs rotation will give up the fewest runs in the NL Central. Pitching is a combination of stuff and command, right? The idea behind Command+ is that we can tease out who does what they intend to do with the ball. The idea behind E...
