Re: Anthony Iapoce Hired as New Hitting Coach

His name is an anagram for nacho yea point, so the Cubs have progressed from chili to nachos.

Re: College Football - Week 7 (Oct. 13)

Appears they gotten it wrong in BB as well, just sad, they've been surpassed by Northwestern (in BB as well, long surpassed in FB). Completely disagree, Underwood was a great hire and they have a really solid, deep class coming in this year. That is an awful take for a single year. I hope you're co...

Re: College Football - Week 7 (Oct. 13)

Turns out Illinois is still bad this year, huh? 5 mil a year for Lovie. I know coaches usually deserve 1 full recruiting cycle but, they would be justified if they canned him. Appears they gotten it wrong in BB as well, just sad, they've been surpassed by Northwestern (in BB as well, long surpassed...

Re: Good, Morrow to work on the sabbath

De La Rosa has been great in 17 appearances for the Cubs, to the point where I'm almost expecting him to be on the postseason roster in the pen. Looking at the options: Strop (if healthy) Edwards Cishek Wilson Chavez Monty Rosario De La Rosa Kintzler Garcia Chatwood Mills Maples I'd say Edwards, Cis...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

Javy with an outside shot at the triple crown in the NL, now up to 10th in BA, 3rd in HR and 1st in RBI. Likely won't catch Yelich/Gennett for the batting title, but it's a great season. I'm not great at math, but is it even possible for a swing in batting average that great at this point in the se...

Re: Good, Morrow to work on the sabbath

Maybe next time don't spend $10M a year on the guy who you have to baby the horsefeathers out of to get down to a 70/30 chance he's going to get hurt The signing itself was fine, IMO, but they REALLY dropped the ball by acting like they only needed to prop up the bullpen in-season with the likes of...

Re: On Bended Knee - The Rizzo Thread

Suddenly Rizzo's season line is starting to look like every other season. 10 HRs needed to get to 32, which would bump the slugging up to normal.

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

AKA the "We don't want to risk Black Panther winning Best Picture " award. this makes no sense. they would LOVE it if that movie won best picture.* this is a blatant effort (assuming it goes into effect this year) to make sure black panther DOES win an oscar. *which it shouldn’t The Acade...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

I mean, look at last year's Best Pic nominees: - Shape of Water (Winner) - Get Out - The Post - Phantom Thread - Dunkirk - Lady Bird - Darkest Hour - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - Call Me By Your Name Half of those didn't have a wide release, and while they may have been good quality f...

Re: RE: Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Maybe. Maybe not. There is a dangerous precedent being set where people are jumping to conclusions without the full context. While some of these people may be genuinely bad guys, I don't think it is fair or productive to keep digging through everyone's past for any sign of a potentially offensive r...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

How much longer until Javy passes KB and Rizz in popularity in Chicago? Has it already happened? My 11yo son's a huge Baez fanatic, to the point of getting a blonde mohawk and temporary MLB logo tattoos for the back of his neck during youth baseball season. Of course, he was a huge Castro fan befor...

Re: On Bended Knee - The Rizzo Thread

When do we start to get concerned about Rizzo? The slumps are becoming more frequent, and when he slumps, he REALLY slumps. I don't know what his soft contact rate is, or where to even find such a thing, but it sure seems like he has more soft contact than anyone else in the Cubs lineup. He also ha...

Kane makes the penalty, then I can only assume heads to the bench for a moustache and fake sunglasses so he can also take the next 4.

Re: soccer soccer soccer

Geiger apparently left his cards at home. Colombia has probably deserved at least one straight red for a headbutt, if not several more yellows, including an assistant coach giving Sterling a shoulder shiver when heading off the pitch for halftime.

Re: soccer soccer soccer

There's enough people who are paid to write and talk about soccer that are talking up Juan Carlos Osorio to USMNT being a thing that I'm forced to consider it now. I think I like it? Maybe a lot? There are certainly worse options (aka the prior 2 hires), and the result today (and v Sweden) was a ne...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

July 1 first-half offense musings:

- Willson Contreras has been a slightly better Buster Posey this season.
- Anthony Rizzo has been the worst Cub regular hitter to this point. However, his batting line is still above average for all but 4 MLB teams (Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Astros).

Re: soccer soccer soccer

Did they get rid of the double jeopardy in the World Cup? I know they did in the EPL so as long as you're making a play on the ball, you can't get a red card and give up a PK. Because that should have been a red for denial of a goal scoring opp. Yes they got rid of triple jeopardy as long as it's a...
