Re: Lee Smith, Harold Baines elected to HOF

I posted this on another board when someone claimed that the HOF had already jumped the shark with Tim Raines and that Baines' induction really wasn't all that different... Categories where they ranked in the Top 10 in a season and where they ranked within the Top 10 that season: Raines BA: (4 times...

His 27 season he stole 3 bases and was caught 16 times lol. Career 74 stolen with 72 caught.

That may also be a record...

Good grief. Adam Dunn probably had a better percentage.

Re: College Football - Bowl Games

An 8 team playoff is the most obvious thing ever. The five Power 5 champs, one G5 selection, and two at-large selections. I've said it a million times on this board and I'm convinced it would be glorious. You have the four quarter final games all on New Years Day. They can rotate access bowls. A hyp...

No Offense, But Adam Ottavino Would Make Babe Ruth Look Like A Sack Of Pig horsefeathers I’ll be damned. The video of Ruth they linked in that story was a video I created like ten years ago. Some wanker stole it and put it on their channel apparently. That comment is funny, but not really accurate....

Re: Lee Smith, Harold Baines elected to HOF

i'd vote for him, but worth noting his career road stats are basically Mark Grace plus a dash of SLG great hitter regardless but specifically his power output largely a byproduct of Coors That's a really good comparison actually. Incidentally, Helton wore No. 17 because of Gracie . puke you leave t...

I'm thinking this year's class is going to be Rivera, Mussina, Halladay, and Edgar.

I'll be interested to see what numbers Pettitte and Helton get.

Re: Lee Smith, Harold Baines elected to HOF

Does Todd Helton get voted in? I think he eventually gets in, but will he be voted in? He's 19th All-Time in OPS and 19th in Doubles. 133 Career OPS+. Once had a single season where he led the league in hits, doubles, RBI, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, and Total Bases. He was also a very proficient fielder. Ca...

Re: Lee Smith, Harold Baines elected to HOF

I've always been a "big Hall" guy, who thinks almost every borderline case should probably get the nod. So I'm trying to look at this bizarre election of Harold Baines and think about what it could mean for guys like Todd Helton, Gary Sheffield, Kenny Lofton, Jim Edmonds, Andruw Jones, Fr...

More stats showing the absolute absurdity of this selection: According to Baseball Reference, his HOF Monitor score is 67. This ties him with Mookie Betts (already), Javy Lopez, and Brian McCann. Random players with higher HOF Monitor scores: Vinny Castilla, Paul O'Neill, Giancarlo Stanton, Carlos L...

Pie Traynor is the only position player in the HOF with a lower WAR (36.3) than Baines (38.7). Some notable differences between the two though: Traynor: 1941 games, 6 Top 10 MVP finishes Baines: 2830 games, 2 Top 10 MVP finishes Your Lowest 10 WAR's of players voted into the HOF by the BBWAA: - Pie...

Pretty cool from a historical perspective that there is video footage of a future POTUS being rescued by a submarine at sea after being shot down.

Re: College Football - Bowl Games

I’m not sure how the 860 yards Ole Miss tacked up against Louisiana-Monroe is really relevant either. Counting total yards and ranking teams accordingly is beyond archaic. You’re already backing off with the SEC schedule caveat. Of course if you limited their offense to the ranked SEc teams they av...

Ole Miss was the what now? Exactly what I said. https://www.cfbstats.com/2018/leader/national/team/offense/split01/category10/sort01.html Narrowly edging out North Texas's elite offense. so the Sooners should be able to score enough to at least cover. Man, I dunno. Oklahoma has a terrific offense, but Bama can really strangle teams at times. Yep. I've never seen a more dominant team in my life. They are exceptional on both sides of the ball.
