Re: TV thread

Hell, in this case they literally could cut a single line to remove the entire blackface context. No need to do anything complicated at all. But ultimately, I think with the vast majority of comedies the disclaimer idea just doesn't really fly. It's one thing with, like, Mad Men , where they kept t...

I have been re-watching Community on Netflix and got to midway through Season 2 when suddenly I realized I must've skipped over Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. And then I was terribly disappointed to remember it had been taken off the rotation on both Netflix and Hulu over the summer due to the sc...

Re: Video Game Thread

I haven't really been able to bring myself to hang out in my home office since my dog passed (he and I spent most of our time together in there). So I never did get around to finishing my playthrough of Cyberpunk. I'm sure I'll get back to it someday. But I have been able to get in some time on my S...

Since my last post reads as terribly depressing, I would like to express my profound hope that Trump's legacy is in large part the Millennial generation being profoundly turned off to nonsensical conservative politics and their increasing political participation ushering in a new age of hope and pro...

Re: The History Thread

I look at things less as an absolute ranking and more tier-based. He may well end up the guy I think of as the bottom of the bottom tier, but as of yet, I don't think he deserves a tier unto himself. That said, Trump's legacy is still being written. He may be gone from office, but that in no way clo...

Undoubtedly. You can make arguments that a handful of Presidents were worse. But he will forever rank in the bottom tier of American presidents.

Chris Hays had a tweet today of the 5 worst Presidents. I'm going with 1. Trump 2. Johnson 3. Buchanan 4. Harding 5. W Dishonorable mention: Jackson, Nixon, Pierce, Hoover, Wilson (no order) Andrew Jackson orchestrated actual genocide. I don't know how he's out of the top 5 Until somewhat recently,...

Re: The Politics Thread

while we wait for these pardons to drop, i would like to express profound confusion about why people are worried that DJT would pardon himself. if i understand this correctly, in order to pardon yourself for a crime, the crime needs to be named. not only would this require him to overcome his patho...

Is there a belief that militant MAGAs are going to target some other city(s) with DC locked down? Block 37 downtown (Chicago) put plywood over their glass entry ways today. Probably just wealthy conservative dildos who think the have-nots will use a major social event to loot and riot. They're dumb...

AFAIK, the threat is largely DC and state capitols. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see some nonsense elsewhere.

Re: The Politics Thread

I dunno. I feel like there's going to be at least some consensus to purge the lunatics out. A majority of House Republicans voted to object to certifying the results of the presidential election. And McCarthy didn’t seem to be putting his finger on the scale for that one. He let people vote how the...

That's not a surprise, unfortunately.

horsefeathers, just do the count/vote/whatever thing. Trust me, whatever clever line your aide wrote for you isn’t going to lead the morning news. Re: Cubs deep in discussions with Padres on Darvish

I am probably alone in stating this, but I wouldn't mind a Wil Myers acquisition. Don't get me wrong, I think if we acquire him we can kiss 2021 goodbye. But he's a former top prospect with a few pretty good years under his belt, and who positively mashed last year. I don't think he keeps it up. But...
