Maybe it'll be a Rookie of the Year-type of situation.

why stop there? Surely you can slice it down a little further to squeeze more of an advantage out for the Cubs The Cubs having a relatively poor season this year and being poorly run more recently than the Dodgers doesn't make the fact they were a half step better over a very long time horizon. Re: Hultzen finally makes it; guy who looks at cameras DFA'd

IMO we need the new Strop. Kimbrel is great in the 9th, and Wick, Ryan, Chatwood, plus your favorite Iowa shuttle guy(s) is pretty solid 3 thru 5-6. I don't think it's prudent to consider Wick a guaranteed lock down guy at this juncture for those purposes, so you need another guy who is reliably ve...

2) Playing his horsefeathers Columbus guys like Trapp and Zardes. They're solid MLS contributors. That's it. I don't really like seeing either of them, although I do feel like the backlash is getting a bit extreme because of the circumstances(this is mostly because the USMNT fanbase is particularly...

Re: soccer soccer soccer

anyways why does it seem like we are finally developing top end talent but the actual team is getting worse? 1) we need to have the painful waiting period for that talent to mature since there’s a huge void in the age groups in front of them. Case in point last night with Dest getting roasted on th...

Re: Minor League Musings

Nick: Andrew Vaughn’s had a decent pro debut the numbers don’t jump off the page the way I would have expected them to so far. Maybe there’s some fatigue after a long season. What do you make of his first taste of pro ball? For a player whose value is almost entirely tied up in his bat, I would hav...

Re: "Time makes fools of us all" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

Castellanos has a .607 OPS as a pinch hitter, can't keep him. Rizzo is at .478, might be time to put him out to pasture too. Baez is at .542, definitely pump the breaks on his extension. Bryant is at .583, the gutless choking dog. Thankfully, the MLB leader in pinch hitting the last 3 years(min 10 ...

Re: Technology Chit-Chat

Makes sense, and yeah, it's through a Roku on our wireless. Ideally I'd prefer watching on the big screen vs a laptop/phone, but I'll play around with our other devices. Looks like if it's a Roku/wireless issue, there's an ethernet connection that could help? If it's only Cubs games that's giving y...

Somewhat similar question (not to take away from that one). But I've noticed the Cubs games are at least a couple minutes behind normal cable. Not ...

Re: Technology Chit-Chat

This is probably a super dumb question and I think I already know that the answer is yes but wanted to double check. If I buy a gaming monitor and I just hook up a Roku or Firestick to it for TV watching purposes, that will work with no issues right? And downsides I'm not thinking of? It's just an ...

Re: Nick Castellanos is a bad mother[bleep]

So what does a hypothetical Castellanos signing look like? 3/$45m? 4/$60m? JD Martinez seems like a near-perfect analogue, but all bets are off in this newfound era of collusion so, maybe? Martinez was a fair amount better with the bat for a long while, although he was 2 years older. 4/60 feels lik...

Re: The Cardinals

A lot of goal post moving here. First off, Brennen Davis didn't get promoted and there's no telling what Gorman would have done with a full season in Midwest League. It's a straw man argument that compares two different players entirely. I don't see the point. The point is that Gorman is not “blowi...

Re: The Cardinals

What league are you talking about? Gorman is one of five 19 year olds in FSL and is only doing worse than Wander Franco (great prospect in his own right) and Jose Devers (guy in Stanton trade). Both good prospects. Your other point is noted.....thanks. Not trying to troll but just cutting the BS th...
