Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-25-18

Probably a bit unlucky for Rucker to give up 3 runs in 5 on 4 hits and 2 walks(one solo HR), but he’s also had some trouble with endurance/3rd time through the order in the early going.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-24-18

Bailey Clark doing some good work as a multi-inning reliever: 14.1 IP, 12 H, 2 ER, 19/3 K/BB, 1 HR

As a 23 year old with 5th round pedigree, wonder how long til he goes to Myrtle Beach if that keeps up.

Re: Politics & Current Events

But Trump isn't running for reelection in 2018. If he were, then I wouldn't be particularly concerned. He's running for reelection in 2020. Plenty of time for the national mood to swing back. I think thats a fair point, but also wrongly ties trump’s popularity or lack thereof to his policies and ha...

Re: Politics & Current Events

It’s hard for me to see the electoral reaction to Trump’s presidency thus far as anything but a sign he’s going to be emphatically voted out in 2020, but maybe there’s a turnaround or some other reason to think that things will change from Democrats flipping senate seats in Alabama to Trump threadin...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

The Cubs lead the NL in wRC and are 1 run off from the lead in runs. They've also been HBP a weird number of times, their 21 leads MLB by a fair amount(the White Sox are 2nd with 16). The heart of the order(Bryant 7, Rizzo 5, Contreras 4) have been HBP as many times in 225 PA as any other combined t...

Re: It’s not me, it’s Yu

I too look forward to the time in the indeterminate future when big FA signing Yu Darvish is able to pitch beyond the 4th inning. To be clear, the point I’m making is not ‘ah yes this is all going according to plan’, but rather that it’s more likely a combination of factors(a dash of building up en...

Re: Gleyber Torres Getting Called up to the Bigs

What exactly is Torres good at other than being young for each level he’s played at? His numbers aren’t crazy good. sometimes with guys scouted favorably that's enough to portend semi-stardom: Lindor, DiDi, Albies... Those guys have much louder tools than Gleyber though. Torres has jumped up lists ...

Re: It’s not me, it’s Yu

For a point of reference, Lester gave up 15 ER in his first 21.2 IP as a Cub. I’m not really worried, two of those starts very much seemed like running out of steam which I expect will improve as the year progresses. I was happy to see him get rid of the hesitation too. Doing that every pitch doesn’...

Re: Gleyber Torres Getting Called up to the Bigs

What exactly is Torres good at other than being young for each level he’s played at? His numbers aren’t crazy good. I’ve been beating this drum for years. Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to have next-gen Placido Polanco on my team, but that is not a thing that I will have an ounce of regret about losi...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-18-18

Little's two outings have come in weather generously described as 40 degrees, I'm not terribly worried about down velocity. 5 walks in 18 batters is a different story, although history is full of guys who take a few games to settle in to a level too.

Re: General Chit-Chat thread

how did Donna tweet if Jason changed the password? You can be logged into the same account from multiple devices. But if one person changes the password you are no longer logged into that account. That depends. For example, Twitter might not invalidate 3rd party apps on password reset. So your Twee...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

Looks like I was wrong about that particular batted ball anyway: https://web.kitsapsun.com/archive/2003/10-11/280691_glanville_triple_keeps_cubbies_.html Glanville hit a liner that skipped past diving left fielder Jeff Conine in the gap and using his best asset, streaked into third. Haven't been ab...

In a 4 year span, the Nats drafted Strasburg, Harper, Rendon, Goodwin, Storen, and Giolito in the first/supplemental first round.

It's Chipotle, you can literally see the assembly line. If they're so busy that there's no time to fit in an online order in between, then in-store orders are gonna get held up when the time comes. There isn't extra burrito-making capacity they're not using.

Rucker went 3 (uninspiring) innings before Tennessee was rained out, so I would guess he’s not gonna go again tomorrow.

It’s no less bizarre than the average exit velocity of players wearing odd numbered jerseys on tuesdays after the 4th inning. It’s borderline pointless trivia.

I’m gonna need Underwood to keep that up for a while before I start believing in him. By my calculations he needs to perform until...2027 to reach that point.

Re: Baez impresses Baez

A team that employs Sean Rodriguez has no room to complain about other teams' behaviors. A manager that presumably ordered, or at least had no problem with, his own pitcher intentionally hitting Jake Arrieta in a horsefeathering playoff game as 'revenge' for a couple of accidental plunks - IN A hor...

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2017-2018

For some reason this bit on Misael Garcia cracked me up, I think it's how it underscores the absurdity of scouting 16 year olds: Leading up to July 2, Garcia was 6 feet, 170 pounds and was throwing in the mid-to-upper 80s. He’s grown taller and added strength (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) and now has touch...

Regardless of position. IIRC the only decent player was Alex Wood.
