Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

That was incomprehensible and I'm mad at you for exposing me to it. On the plus side, it did make me wonder if Murray Chass wrote the style guide for the New York Post, and that led me to the delightful opening to his wikipedia page: "Murray Chass (born October 12, 1938, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvani...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Are the Cubs starters going to bounce back based on thousands of innings of past performance?

No, it is the children projections that are wrong.

Re: Cubs acquire Jesse Chavez from Texas!

This feels like ‘we need another Montgomery in the pen because some combination of Darvish being dead and Chatwood being better off dead means Montgomery isn’t going back to the pen anytime soon’.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

The AL is 85-102 against the NL this year. At current winning percentages, the Indians will play about 110 games against teams with a losing record, and they are currently playing at an 89 win pace.

Re: Brad Hand to Cleveland

Cimber also going to Cleveland with Hand, Mejia the headliner going to San Diego. This feels a whole lot like the Samardzija/Hammel deal. Or like when the Nats got Doolittle and Madson in the same deal. One stop shopping to fix the bullpen. I was also thinking of the angle that they're getting a pr...

Re: The Cardinals

I do agree with the 'challenge right away or don't' sentiment. It's a bit absurd to me that they let teams delay the game to look at replays to decide whether to ask umpires to look at replays. If that team is pitching there's not a ton that can be done, although a pitch clock would help with that.

I need someone to fill the hole in my heart that Filiere left when he decided to be terrible at South Bend this year. Maybe Reynolds is the guy.

Re: Javy and Schwarber entering HR Derby

Multiple Cubs players hitting all-star game home runs off Chris Sale would be very very funny, boy I hope it happens. Bryant got him in 2016 right? anyway the game is getting rained out so nothing is gonna happen which is for the best Yep, I had to look it up to make sure it was Sale, but Bryant we...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

The point is not to ignore age entirely, the point is that universally bad results shouldn't be graded on an age curve. "Universal"?--- So, his 2017 Eugene numbers don't count? For me the only thing 2018 says about ademan is that as an underdeveloped 19 yr old he wasn't ready for high A b...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

His age and the lower threshold of his position gives him opportunity to rebound, but there's nothing about that we can look at and think it portends well if he only were a few months older at t his level. Well, you’re just acknowledging then ignoring Ademan’s age differential with respect to his r...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

I haven’t seen anything from Ademan that indicates that he’s a shoo-in to be a strong hitter at any level of full season ball yet. certainly capable of doing so, but taking a few walks while the bat gets knocked out of your hands in low/high A doesn’t fill me with confidence. I don't see how his pl...
