Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

I guess its possible. I just doubt they'd give a break on Colome's price though. They supposedly want to drop 15 mill off their payroll. They've got a bunch of ways to get there. In Ramos' case, I'd guess they'd hold him until a contenders C got hurt and suck whatever bit of value he's got, that wa...

Re: Food Monstrosities

I honestly had no clue that the Cheesecake Factory serves food other than dessert-type stuff. Huh. If you watched Happy Endings(and if not, get on it), it's basically the Pangaea concept that Dave pitches in one episode. The menu needs a table of contents, it's as cluttered and wide ranging as the ...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Put me down for 'it's silly to think that the Cubs can snake their way into a player that all 30 teams would want and can afford by other teams miraculously failing to have a lead piece', and also 'it's silly to think a team blowing it up is going to be so picky to turn down value in the form of Add...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

They're both great, IMO, but IB manages to have 3 of some of the greatest scenes of all time in any movie, so I gotta give it the edge. I mean, the bar scene alone beats maybe a good 90% of any other movie ever in their entirety. First scene, bar scene, and... https://youtu.be/09nHj9Qd6k0 And, as a...

Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

It doesn't even need to be that hard. Adjusted for position and park, Bryant was the most valuable offensive player in the NL. As long as you don't think Stanton or Rendon are 5-10 runs better than him defensively, then he's a logical option to be the most valuable.

Re: Corporate grab ass shenanigans, and so much worse

Things can be very different and still share similar consequences. But they don't have to be similar. In this case, yes they do. The point of comparison(don't let them be a freaking Senator) is such a low bar for someone who appears to be a sexual predator, that doesn't mean that you use it as a be...

Price is owed 4/127 after the opt out and would be 33 for the first season after the opt out. The odds of him opting out are incredibly low.

Re: Technology Chit-Chat

It looks like I'm about 15-25 miles away from most of the OTA signals around me, and it's the 'burbs so I guess s standard indoor 35-50 mile radius antennae would do it. I have streaming options, too, but I weirdly still want an option where I can just flip around and see what's on, plus I've grown...

Finally ditched cable and trying to figure out which of the digital antennae options are best. Which ones would the rest of you suggest? Do you mean literal antennae or the streaming TV services? For the latter, I don't have any personal experience, but when I looked into it a couple months ago I w...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

If it is just Britton (if it's a larger deal, Gausmen, Bundy, etc. I'd get it) I'd be pretty surprised and upset if it's any of the rumored guys from the ML roster going for him, especially this early in the offseason. I almost wonder if Montgomery would be the guy here. The Orioles can still put u...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Schwarber aside from the start of 2017 has run about a .365 wOBA. He has a career +5 UZR in the OF, but let's play it conservative since DRS disagrees and knock him down to -5. That's basically Domingo Santana, who put up a 3.3 fWAR this year, so any offensive improvement or having him actually be a...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Here's my thought on Happ. What are the odds that he's much better than he was last year? He could improve his K rate a bit and hit for a higher average, but I think the 2-3 win production you get from him is as good as it gets. That's plenty valuable and shouldn't be given away, but this offense is...
