Re: It's Maddoning

Celebrations are the icing, not the cake. Baseball is a hell of a lot better with celebrations but pretty damn good without them, too. MLB’s current virality is based on celebrations, which is fun but likely not a sustainable way to grow the game (e.g. being conditioned to think that a walkoff isn’t...

Re: "Time makes fools of us all" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

Schwarber & Russell should have been traded after the WS. there was no reason to trade them then. especially russell. saying they "should" have traded them in hindsight is pointless, especially since there was probably more reason to trade baez then, which would have been a huge mista...

Re: "Time makes fools of us all" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

When we're able to sadly boil it down in hindsight as that the Cubs were saddled with a bizarrely terrible Heyward for multiple years, and were limited to only replacing someone like Schwarber internally, yeah, it looks like they effectively had no choice. That is not, however, the ideal way we wer...

Really weird for a golf club to announce that though.

Re: That Eloy Jiminez contract may be a real thing

KB is going to make ~$75 million after all his team controlled/arb years (he’s at ~$26 mil after this year not including his signing bonus). Figure he gets around $20 mil next year and $30 in final year of arb. So it looks like there could be savings of $30-40 mil if Eloy hits his absolute ceiling ...

Quick dirty math: 15 x 15 = 225 sq in^2, 18 x 18 = 324 sq in^2. So an increase of 99 inches . Not insignificant. It should be a good thing I think. https://media.giphy.com/media/l3fZLMbuCOqJ82gec/giphy.gif Lol. I never said the math was hard... I just wanted to show it because people might not real...

I recently learned that this year, bullpens won't be able to watch games live on TV. Instead, they'll get feeds with an 8 second delay. Really sucks for the Cubs.

Re: The Bryce is Right, Bitch

This is an interesting deal. On one hand, part of the allure of being able to sign a good player in his prime is that you can do a long-term contract and not have to pay for horsefeathers years. Going to 13 with full NTC doesn't really get there. On the other hand, the AAV gives the Phillies a lot o...

I think that states that Sinclair expect to make 40-50 per year. So...is the company referred to here the Cubs or Sinclair? Which evil empire is making that $40M-$50M?

Since it's on Sinclair's earnings call, my guess is $40m to $50m to Sinclair.
