Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

I guess its possible. I just doubt they'd give a break on Colome's price though. They supposedly want to drop 15 mill off their payroll. They've got a bunch of ways to get there. In Ramos' case, I'd guess they'd hold him until a contenders C got hurt and suck whatever bit of value he's got, that wa...

More rumblings that the Rays are going to shed payroll one way or another: http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseball/rays/Topkin-As-Rays-start-dealing-how-far-will-they-go-_162778806 I wonder if taking on Ramos(1/8.5, 6.25 against LT) might help grease the wheels in a deal for someone like Colome. Re: 2017-18 Bulls Thread - Fly the Tank W

Markkanen wasn't involved much in the second half, but finished with 16 and 7. Dunn had a hell of a game, going 22, 5, and 7. Only 1 TO too. He's probably going to flash enough to where he could be a low end starting PG. I guess there's a slight hope he can be more than that, at this point. But, the...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

From a "everyone needs young pitching" standpoint....Then fine, Tampa does too. But, if they deal Archer, they're still set up with Odorizzi, Faria, Andriese, Honeywell, and Snell. With Cabrera, Schultz, Yarbrough, and DeLeon all relatively close or ready to contribute. That's much, much, ...

Loaded question. He'd still be better than all but 2 current Bulls.

Re: 2017-18 Bulls Thread - Fly the Tank W

So the Bulls are doing pretty well in the L column of the NBA standings. Only Dallas has a worse record than us right now. I can't tell if Dallas is genuinely this bad or is tanking hard? I'm pretty sure they're tanking because M. Cuban admitted that's what they would try to do once they became med...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Or Reyes. Same thing. There's not many elite pitching prospects out there right now. The Braves could quantity their way there, but I doubt AA is going to make that type of move yet.

I think if Archer gets dealt, we're in a damn good position.

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

For toonsterwu or anyone else who follows other teams' systems, do you think the presence of Adames would affect how the Rays view Russell, or would they fit well together up the middle? Also I know Archer will make more than Russell the next few years but is it possible Addison would catch or surp...

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

So, Rosenthal says they ARE going to lose prospects, as PART of the punishment. They'll be treated with the same rules as if they were first on the market. Teams will bid accordingly. But, since its likely they'll get to keep their first bonuses, I'm just not sure they'd wait or not, until the next ...

Re: International Free Agency Thread 2018-2019

What IS fun though, with the new CBA......Is that its capped, but you can trade for up to 75% more than your budget for the next 2 years, then 60% after that...... So, you're ABLE to always be in the top tier of spending teams, if you want to be. Especially since there's only 3 tiers of initial mone...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

I am the walrus: Agree or not? The Cubs will likely sign a lower FA pitcher (Cobb), sign a lower end closer (Reed), sign a middle rp (Mcgee) or two, send a regular (Happ) for a fairly high ceiling young pitcher and spend around $30M of there $70 salary they have to spend. 12:56 Dave Cameron: I think...

Very interesting. Puts another guy on the market. No idea if he'll wait til the next class, take a smaller bonus from the Twins, or what.....

I gotta wonder if the Twins did this to give them a slight shot at Ohtani.

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Either way, its a very lackluster off season, in my mind. The main point was, what if that IS our off season? Its not beyond the realm of possibility, with no trades and looking towards the 2018 class. I'd be okay with it, tbh. I'd make some different choices after Cobb, but I think that still puts...

Injuries happen, I don't think there'll be issues finding AB's, to be honest.

That said, I'm pulling for a trade.

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Jesse Rogers' article today saddened me quite a bit. Obviously, Rogers isn't great. But, it still made me think.... His off season expectations seem to be that Schwarber definitely is at the low end of his value and we're not selling low on him. He doesn't think Happ will bring back the young cost ...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Toonster, you literally just took every possible positive look at one guy and the opposite on the other. Being in sales, I appreciate that. But, GM's just aren't looking at it like that. Soler was older, under a contract, injury prone, had struggled some, and was a liability defensively. And I'm not...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Soler needed to completely mash, to just be a 2 WAR guy. Injuries and his defense had cut his value way down.

Happ has tons more value than he did, or does going forward.

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

If you part those guys out....I'd say Odorizzi probably brings back a borderline top 100 type, plus a top 30 in a normal system. I'd say Colome brings back a top 100 guy, plus a top 10-15 in the system. Kiermaier? My guess is he'd bring back a top 20 prospect, a top 75ish guy, another guy from the t...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

i thought we soured on morrow after the dodgers gave him the rented mule treatment I did. But, he wasn't throwing tons of pitches, if I remember. Plus, he's still gotta pass a physical, my guess is we'd leave no stone unturned on it. I'm figuring he's the best potential closer, on the market. Years...
