Re: Cubs TV broadcast rights

Now the question is, will anyone without cable/dish services be able to watch Marquee this year? Isn’t that all sorted out in market? They’re with all the providers, even streaming services, aren’t they? Out of market you still need MLB TV to watch them or Extra Innings (or whatever it’s called if ...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

Though it does have the appalling scene where Black Widow tries to say she's a "monster" because she can't have kids, which, holy horsefeathers, Whedon, what the horsefeathers is wrong with you? Dude apparently cut more of the Thor vision scene (with Loki) so that he wouldn't have to cut ...

Re: Jake is Back

I agree with the posts of being irrationally happy and also good nostalgia during a season that we likely will need it. From a pure contract standpoint, I'm actually surprised he got that much. It doesn't matter, of course. It's only one year. But I thought he'd have to accept more in the $3 millio...

Give me 1 or 2 throwback nights at Wrigley where he's got it working like 2015-16 and I really won't care much what else happens from this.

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

I have the option to get the Pfizer vaccine next week if I choose. I'm 33 and generally healthy, and eligible as a substitute teacher (I sub 2-3 times/week as a kind of side gig). Our county health dept. (i'm in rural southern IL) is scheduling people to receive their shots every 10 minutes from 8 ...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

Thank you for posting Craig's thread. Every time I see another story in a reputable publication (NYT had one this week) that heavily implies that things aren't going to be anything resembling normal even after COVID numbers have fallen past the point where you'd expect things to be somewhat normal, ...

there's a location in this country 30 minutes away from the nearest wendys?

I'm 20 away and if I were a little bit north I would definitely be more than 30 away, even from the next northern location. It sucks.

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

my college had a Wendy's on campus that you could pay for with your meal plan money, many spicy chicken sandwiches were consumed freshman year We had a Chick-fil-A and a Sbarro. Since then they've added Taco Bell and any number of other options. It's a wonder it took until after college for me to s...

How many teams do you think Brady could get into the SB if he were a FA again? A lot less than you think. Which isn't a knock on Brady. He was smart enough to know Tampa Bay was the best situation available (certainly way better than New England) and took it. Top of my head TB, Buffalo, Miami (with...

Is there any evidence that the UK variant hasn't already been here horsefeathering horsefeathers up all winter? Of course it has. I certainly hope no one would be silly enough to believe the first time someone caught one of the variants in a test was the first time it was in the entire country. We ...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

The owners' current offer seems eminently reasonable outside of the expanded playoffs thing. The players absolutely should fight that. Not even as much about the money, though as Tom points out that's clearly ridiculous too, but because they know damn well what the result would be in terms of owners...

A couple of the more public experts like Osterholm and Gottilieb were making the rounds today really pushing a spring fourth wave due to variants. I can’t tell if they’re seeing something I’m not or if they’re just trying to make sure we don’t lose compliance too fast as things improve. I'd bet hea...

I don't know how this works exactly but The Athletic's Bulls writer said she is one of the few non-staff (whatever that means) refs working games this season.

Re: Arenado's Cardinal Sin

The Cubs are such a dumpster fire than I can’t get worked up about what anyone else does. The problem is the whole NL Central is a dumpster fire, regardless of this move. It’s a race to 85 wins +/-. The 2005 Padres won the west at 82-80, and that appears to be the lowest wins for a division winner ...

Why don’t you see the draw? Just personal preference. I can watch games at home on TV if I don't want to (or can't, in this case) be near other people. It's probably more relevant for football games, though. so is it a safety thing or don’t want to be in a 1/4 filled stadium thing? Oh, the latter. ...
