Re: College football hindsight season

There won't be a CFB season. I know no one is going to admit that until they have to, but it's a little frustrating to see it go away bit by bit like Marty McFly's family photo. Well if all the conferences go conference-only, Notre Dane will just scrimmage itself 12 times ACC has already said they'...

No, just wishfully thinking I'd guess

At the rate people are getting infected lately, maybe we'll hit that fabled mid-20s percent rate and it'll start burning out by then. Pathetically, that might be our best hope.

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

The Belgian government just decided that masks will be mandatory in all shops (and churches and a number of other places) from next Saturday. From what I've read here, this wouldn't fly in the US. Michigan has had an official mask order the past couple of weeks, but every grocery store I've been ar...

Re: Morrow Back on Minor League Deal

More sorrow for Morrow https://twitter.com/ByRobertMurray/status/1280989964298342402 He would’ve broke anyways, but horsefeathering Joe using him against the rules they allegedly set is still infuriating. He was horsefeathering awesome for his ~30 innings or whatever. He was worth almost 1 WAR for ...

What if the player's case is traced to something outside of his job? It'll still cement the possibility as real (and perceived to be more likely than it is, perhaps) and lead to pulling back. We've made long standing/permanent changes to society in reaction to plenty of unlikely events that just ha...

In Michigan, anyone willing to give me odds on how long it'll take protesters to appear after Gov. Whitmer tries to implement a safe manner of opening schools in the Fall? She admitted on Wolf Blitzer's show yesterday that she's uncertain about opening them at all, which is giving me crazy amounts ...

Re: Cubs TV broadcast rights

MLB.tv is prorating their price to ~$45, with subscribers eligible to either take a refund or apply the difference towards next year’s subscription I took a refund weeks ago, a decision that apparently cost me about $15 - the price for those that don't already have it is $60. Oh well. I would advis...

1 million percent agree with that guy about beaches. Being stuck with this until July 2021? I'm skeptical. Italy burned out in three months. Spain burned out in three months. New York/New Jersey burned out in three months. I've been one of this board's biggest fans of your relatively optimistic out...

Michigan is in a similar boat. The 20% pay cut I got hit with in March has been rolled back to 10% effective at the end of the month. It's virtually meaningless in the grand scheme, but this is the first time I've ever heard of a temporary pay cut in my business not being made permanent, so I'll take it.

Re: MLB Imposes 60 Game Season, Spring Training 2.0 Starts in 7 Days

Hopefully we see a schedule soon. I could see the Cubs and White Sox playing all 6 of their games back to back. Also, there are two 100 loss teams in the AL central, Sox and Twins win total will probably be inflated in a 60 game season. Wouldn't be surprised if both AL wildcards come from there. I ...

Yes. It would appear all the things that were in the rejected agreement are happening anyway except for the 16-team playoffs.

Re: MLB Imposes 60 Game Season, Spring Training 2.0 Starts in 7 Days

Very shrewd of the owners to implement the 60 and not go lower. That will likely keep them from losing the grievance. Also, because there was no agreement, regular playoffs (not 16), no ads on uniforms, presumably no runner on 2nd in extra innings. (I assume no universal DH either but not sure of th...

I don't like where any of this is going. I am resigned to the fact that the DH is coming, even though I still don't like it. But a permanent 16 team playoff is horrible. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Agreed on all counts. A 162-game season doesn't remotely require a playoff with half the team...

Apparently the playoffs will expand to 16 teams for both this year and next under this scenario, and your guess is as good as mine how they would expect to make that work next season in the event they actually do get to play 162 games.

As long as prorated pay (players) and expanded playoffs (owners) are included, I would assume each side will make sure the deal will get done.

Re: 80 game season with expanded playoffs, starting in July

You have to look at the comparisons. NFL's union, for instance, has been arguing against more than 16 games for years, and then the owners offered to spend, like, a fraction of a half a percent more on player salaries in exchange for a 17th game (which will inevitably become demands for an 18th game...

Leaking health info to the press is a serious HIPAA violation This came up with the Zeke Elliott thing the other day, but apparently it's only a HIPAA violation if they're getting the info directly from physicians. If, say, an agent tells someone their client has COVID, it's not a HIPAA violation, ...
