Re: Wrigley Renovations and Related Wrigleyville Stuff

Apparently for some reason there is going to be a Chicago Bowl Game in 2020 and it will likely be at Wrigley. https://www.postandcourier.com/sports/myrtle-beach-lands-college-football-bowl-game-for-report-says/article_4947baf6-6f14-11e8-a006-27f19b85f2af.html National writer Brett McMurphy reported...

Re: National Fascism League

Doesnt the NBA require their players to stand during the anthem? Yes, but conventional wisdom is that since the NBA tolerates and even encourages its players to speak out on topics that mean something to them, they're happier to play ball on that topic. And in any case I think that's an old rule, m...

Re: 2018 NBA Offseason

Why not all lottery teams get 1 ball/same odds? Then teams that were never going to compete have no incentive to make their team worse. Rebuilding teams can try and maybe make a run, but if they fall short they can still get lucky. This is what I think, and it's what used to happen when the lottery...

Yeah, Verlander is the one that got away. I think he wanted to be a Cub too. He may have become available after the Q trade but it still would have been nice to get him. Dude has been a monster for the Astros. IIRC, the SI piece about the Verlander trade specifically mentions that he was basically ...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Just think how bad it would be if Lester / Yu / Q went down for the year with an injury. We have next to nothing to fill in (Butler and Monty don’t count). Those three pitchers have a combined 0.2 fWAR. No kidding. We'd very likely be a worse team without any of those 3, but they're an odd 3 to sin...

I'm by no means a good draft pick evaluator, but if MPJ is available at 6, you have to take him right? Obviously has considerable risk with his injury but probably has 3rd best ceiling in the draft after Ayton and Doncic. I don't like Bamba (useful but limited ceiling), Jaren Jackson (has too many ...

the current playoff format is pretty great. Although I’d probably feel differently if the Cubs were on the wrong end of some short series NLDS randomness/luck in their recent run. Yeah I’m fine with it and the overall 162 game set up too. Just saying it seems making playoff series longer would be s...

Re: Wrigleyville-ish parking question

For the last decade I've been driving about a half-mile north of Wrigley and parking for free on the streets. Once you get past the 7-11 at the Clark/Southport intersection, the 'no parking' signs disappear.

But since you'll be there in the freezing effing cold, that walk might not seem so enticing.
