Re: Politics & Current Events

https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1143501438494154752 For me, the weird outlier with the Democratic endorsements at this point is Booker. He's technically in third, but the guy has had seemingly zero momentum at all to this point. Even Klobuchar in 4th makes a bit more sense because she's ha...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Is Tulsi Gabbard not popping up on people's lists, or are you all too embarrassed to show where she falls? I am NOT a Gabbard fan, to be clear She is on the list, but for me not high enough to matter. Answering a bunch more of the expanded questions didn't do much to change the congestion, but it d...

Dammit, 2020?!? A [expletive] trailer for a sports doc well over a year in advance is just cruel.

Re: Politics & Current Events

For some of these social questions, I keep expecting to expand the choices and seeing one that says "Yes of horsefeathering course how is that even a question?" Like for instance the 'should women be allowed to wear a Niqāb, or face veil, to civic ceremonies' question Hey, you can add tha...

Expecting, nay, DEMANDING more dongs is always legit, and get out of here with that nerd talk trying to sidestep the dong issue.

DONGS UBER ALLES.

The Kris Bryant Games Without a Dong-o-Meter: 9 GAMES

Wait, only 9 games? [expletive]. I feel tricked.

Re: Politics & Current Events

Looking back over the historical elections through Truman, I unsurprisingly usually come out to about 85-15 in favor of the Democratic candidate. The lowest ones, however, were only 59% for JFK, and only 80% for both times Obama ran. Last election I was 89% for Jill Stein (blargh!), 85% for Clinton,...

Re: Politics & Current Events

They were fairly bunched, but my numbers appear way lower than everyone else's. Klobuchar was tops at 88% Yeah, I topped out at 91%. I was a nerd about it and did every question possible, did the expanded options for pretty much every question, and did the rankings of the importance of each one, so...

Huh. Was not expecting Harris as my technical top pick at all. 91% Harris 91% Warren 91% Sanders 90% Castro 90% O'Rourke 88% Buttigieg 88% Booker 79% Biden 15% Trump Political Party: 91% Socialist 87% Democrat 86% Peace & Freedom (the what now?) 85% Green 28% Libertarian 12% Republican 12% Const...

Candidate match tool: https://www.isidewith.com/ You can expand each category to have it ask you more questions, if you choose "other stances" it will expand your options beyond either yes or no, and you can rank each one in terms of importance. Still pretty broad, sure, but it's a thing....

Re: Politics & Current Events

He was setting up this narrative in 2016 (the election will be illegitimate, watch out for voter intimidation at the booths, etc.), only nothing came of it because he won (and no one was more surprised than him). I guarantee had he lost the EC by 1 or 2 votes that he would have spent months challen...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I don't think there is much Trump can do to try to remain in office unless we have a replay of the 2000 election. The bigger fear, I think, is that he has a call to arms with all the Right Wing militia types. I can see a bunch of MAGA gun nuts intimidating people at polling places in Left leaning d...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Again, mostly with you, but I was going with the 'ignoring the rules and making law enforcement actually ensure the government thing happens'. E.g. Trump loses, makes up some nonsense about voter fraud in a magic number of states that make up the difference, the Senate refuses to do anything until ...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Nowhere did I say that he could/would extend his term if he lost. Then why would you be worried about him "challenging the results?" Like his supporters would be hunky-dory with whoever replaces him if he didn't piss and moan about losing/the new person? How would it be any different to h...

Re: Politics & Current Events

LOL, the Michael Scott bankruptcy thing was kind of what I was imagining. He's just going to make it as ugly and difficult as possible, while breaking as many things as he can. He'll fight it any way he and his enablers can dream up. I hope I'm wrong but I'm just envisioning a very chaotic time... ...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Like, this isn't something that can just be gummed up by a Senate vote/non-vote, or in the courts on a whim or declaration; it would involve essentially suspending the government as we know it. I am generally with you in what you're saying here, but this is basically what the Oregon GOP is doing ri...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I could see him attacking another country if he loses the election. OK...but how would that keep him in office after the election? Then trying to impose Martial Law, whatever, etc. That's a pretty loaded "whatever, etc." that's doing a LOT of heavy lifting. Literally nothing is off the ta...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I'm also curious what people who say they're afraid of Trump...doing things to challenge the election results if he loses think he can actually do. Like, it's not some insurmountable obstacle if a president refuses to accept a loss or leave the White House or whatever. Quite the opposite, actually.

Re: Politics & Current Events

Trump’s new narrative that he didn’t actually lose the popular vote is setting the foundation for him challenging the results of the 2020 election. Things could get very ugly next November, especially with a party that has no interest in telling him to horsefeathers off If he goes there will be tro...
