Re: Politics & Current Events

I think it's plausible that by late October, we've got an emergency-use authorization for a monoclonal antibody treatment that is effective enough to combine with all the other effects (other treatments, a percentage of the US already being infected) to be popularly known as a "cure." I d...

Re: Politics & Current Events

What I described is typical Trump behavior, additionally he's vindictive as hell, you don't believe he'd jump at the chance to get "even" with someone? Look at the nonsense he and Kushner pulled with PPE. No, I don't think he'd torpedo something that would drastically increase his odds of...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I don't know, should a vaccine be developed, I believe, as I mentioned earlier, Trump will hold States and/or groups of people hostage to his narcissistic whims in order to receive dosages. Such behavior will not tighten the race, I would think it'll have the opposite effect. This seems tremendousl...

Prepare yourself now for the likelihood that the race will tighten before November, especially if a SCOTUS judge retires. Or any kind of good news regarding the pandemic. If we do actually get some kind of vaccine before the fall, it won't matter how bad this has been botched to this point; horsefe...

Trump down to 40.1% average approval rating in my obsessive watch on 538. The lower it goes, the better I feel about America. That that's not even the lowest it's been, despite given the current state of horsefeathering EVERYTHING, makes me feel terrible about...well, everything.

Re: 2020 Schedule Released

No, just wishfully thinking I'd guess At the rate people are getting infected lately, maybe we'll hit that fabled mid-20s percent rate and it'll start burning out by then. Pathetically, that might be our best hope. Our bodies only remain immune to the three coronaviruses that cause common cold (som...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

Not reopening schools is by far the most severe step we've taken so far, even beyond shutting down the economy. It would have disastrous, permanent negative effect on an entire generation's mental health and academic development, and the health effects wouldn't be great either. I'm really worried a...

Sometimes. I saw the Princess Mononoke big name dub first, and didn't understand the hype at all (beyond the gorgeous animation) until I saw the original.

There is only one show that I can think of where I would recommend the dubbed version over subtitles, and that's Cowboy Bebop. That's the one exception that popped into my head, like, 5 minutes after my post. Oh, and the insane voice over casts they get for Studio Ghibli movies, too. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Yes, Dark is so so good. I'm rewatching the first 2 seasons so my wife can catch up before watching S3, and man do they really just nail it from the very beginning. Re: Politics & Current Events

Digital TV is very expensive to advertise on, ostensibly because of the audience targeting it allows. (ymmv on how well that targeting works...but last month while binging Bajillion Dollar Properties on Pluto I was inundated with ads for my client). I think whether TLP would advertise on those chan...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I think your sense of the pool of people who watch those shows/channels is bigger then the pool itself really is If that's the case, then why would anyone bother running political ads on them? Trump is hardly the first campaign to do so. Plus we keep hearing people fall back on ye olde, "well,...
