Re: Politics & Current Events

All 12 of them echoing the same anti-Trump talking points doesn't help at this point. Why is every republican echoing the same pro-Trump talking points so effective but Democrats not pointing out how obvious it is that the president is a crook not helping? Yeah, no kidding. It would be one thing if...

Re: 2019 NBA Offseason

The sheer number of people carrying water for the NBA's financial interests in China is so damn depressing. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen some variation of, "BUT WHAT ABOUT KLAY THOMPSON'S SHOE DEAL?!?!"? as if that's a legit defense as to just rolling over. Or acting li...

Is Pluto the same as Pluto TV, the free streaming service with cable guide navigation and hundreds of channels including one that is exclusively point-of-view videos of various train rides? Because that sounds like a Fox News competitor in the same way that their channels that play 20 year old B mo...

Folks, I cannot emphasize enough how much you all need to read that entire article. Holy horsefeathers. When they started talking about scorpions my thought was 'oh they probably saw a couple in the house and maybe a poisonous one in the yard', then I keep reading and it's 'no here's an inspection ...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

This really hit me on the latest re-watch. He murdered someone and orphaned a small child because that person crossed him more than a year prior. He's the worst Same. That call really stuck out to me as being the capper to one of the cruelest things he did. Everything else at the end arguably amoun...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

Like, if we're not going to bother to see Walt's self-destruction out to the end, then you might as well have had something like Mike just capping him before driving off into the sunset. We've both left out Lydia's fate to this point, which is primo Selfish Walt. That's just pure spite and cruelty ...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

You can't do "what about this awesome scene where he admitted that he did because he liked it, and it was selfish, and that was the main reason" and also "he did this because he got screwed over 20 years ago and this was his way of proving his worth", which is much more of a jus...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

Post desert shootout, we get to see a ton of New Hampshire scenery and then they kinda try to imply the whole Grey Matter thing, which hadn't been brought up in 2+ seasons, somehow played a motivating factor. Yes, how could this thing/these people, who have defined Walter White's actions, attitude ...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

None of it "needed" to be told, so I'm not sure why that would suddenly be a dealbreaker. It was just more of this really, really good thing we've had. I will just never understand when someone insists they wanted something really awesome to wrap up in such a rote, basic way. It drives me ...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

But those are season finales, not series finales; they're made with the idea/knowledge that there's more story to tell about Walter White because of those big moments. Walt getting killed in the desert wouldn't simply be them "ending the season." I would argue that Walt getting killed them...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

WALT: I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And I was really...I was alive. From what I remember, that's the climax of that scene, or at least the line everyone remembers. For me, that wasn't some sudden realization. He'd known this for a couple seasons now. Sure, it was....refreshing? to ...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

I dunno, I am not great at analyzing stuff like this but I see enough logic in the decision for it to work. Plus after the desert scene, we get the best Breaking Bad episode and that wouldn't have happened if they offed him, so any doubts I have are erased quickly. And that's all that matters. Peop...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

Man, I like Sepinwall a LOT, but I always disagree with the idea that "Felina" is a "redemption." Like, maybe in only the most basic, "YEAH, HEISENBERG HEISENBERGED SOME NAZIS" way. Beyond that...what? He MAYBE gets the money to his kids, but he has to further terrify a...

Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

I agree with you on the majority of your post-Ozymandias take, outside of the fact that he got to take out all the bad guys and show how smart and science-y he is one last time (in a scene where the majority of the audience was cheering). But if we agree on the fact that there's no redemption, no u...

But if you ask me, the show should have ended in the desert in Ozymandias. I see variations of this line of thought a lot, for a variety of reasons, and I couldn't disagree more with it. How so? What about the Nazis characters as they were developed made it reasonable that they would spare Walt at ...
