Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

I thought this was an interesting/ominous take at the shifting economics within baseball, and how it's happening at the cost of the players. Definitely has me worried they'll be cruising for another big labor dispute a la the strike sooner rather than later: https://deadspin.com/the-mlbpa-is-failing...

Re: Star Trek thread

It's OK; it is indeed a love letter to a show that was mediocre (or worse) more often than not. It's a pleasant enough watch, but I can't see how it could possibly actually start pulling off good to great TNG unless it does a pretty dramatic about face (and ditches MacFarlane; bottom line, the guy'...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

I love most of PTAs work but haven't seen Inherent Vice. How is it? It's a horsefeathering bonkers mess that's worth checking out at least a couple times. And unlike his other films, which tend to descend into absurdity to some degree, this does the opposite and starts off of the rails and then sur...

Re: Politics & Current Events

What the Democrats REALLY need to remember to do when they take charge again is to grow a spine and set essential horsefeathers like health care coverage basically on autopilot so the Republicans can't periodically hold it (and them) horsefeathering hostage. Things like Medicare and Social Security ...

Re: Politics & Current Events

They're trying to force the legislative issues (namely immigration-based) they think WILL help along those lines by needlessly holding things like CHIP and DACA hostage, like they horsefeathering have anything to do with each other. Head the criticisms off at the pass by making it look like you can ...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Democrats couldn't do anything as this was just a bone to the base basically saying we tried. Their message should now be we can't do anything because we didn't have the votes to keep the majority in the House and Senate, but we need your votes to them back in November. They got played, they knew i...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Can someone help me out and explain this to me? I keep seeing takes like this; e.g. McTurtle made committments that he MUST keep; GOP will look bad if they don't follow-through. In what horsefeathering world? The GOP doesn't give a horsefeathers. Did Merrick Garland not happen? Am I imagining that ...

Re: Do you guys remember...

Man I really miss Chris Farley :( . Yeah, me too. I finally got around to watching "I Am Chris Farley" last weekend and it really made me appreciate again how big of an impact he had in a short amount of time. There will never be another actor quite like him, and for that matter, where is...

Re: Food Monstrosities

You must be young. They had an ad campaign in the 80’s with a jingle using the line “America’s Roast Beef, yes sir!” Take the first letter of each word and you get Arby’s. 1) I'm not young 2) You don't have to be old to know that Arby's is a roast beef place. https://media.giphy.com/media/QZP0Abmtp...

Yeah, I brought that up over a discussion as to how this might help the Democrats in the fall; those last two big shutdowns basically did bupkis to move the needle even though both were largely seen as the fault of the Republicans.
