Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

If Zobrist is due back, it’s gonna have to be soon. He’ll need what - 2 weeks at Iowa to get back in baseball shape? If he’s not on the roster by 9/1 - no playoff roster. so why would it have to be soon? two weeks prior to 9/1 is a month from now I didn’t mean to sound frantic, but yeah - I guess w...

Re: Trade targets 2019

The "younger/better players" are busy having surgeries that have them out for the rest of the season. Right now the WS have 6 pitchers on the IR and who knows whether Rodon and Kopech will come back to be stars after TJ surgery. I was obviously talking about the players you suggested they...

Re: Minor League Musings

https://twitter.com/cubprospects/status/1147179149154574336?s=19 While it's not exactly the Braves of the past couple years, this is really good. It's also over the last month pushed Underwood and De La Cruz into multi inning reliever roles, where early returns have been strong. More pitchers need ...

I can’t believe how quickly this team has taken a horsefeathers, and with no end in sight. The window has been slammed shut (with cost controlled players of course).

Strop, Cishek, Kintzler, Monty, Hamels (if he gets back in time) can all go if anyone wants Almora send him out and maybe Q, maybe Schwarber and at least feel out KB’s market. I think a KB trade in the offseason makes some sense to expedite not bottoming out (especially if they could sign Rendon) t...

David Kelton and Brendan Harris were guys I was really looking forward to panning out. Oops. Along with Bobby Hill, Hee Seop Choi, Augie Ojeda, etc., etc. Okay, maybe not Augie Ojeda. Nic Jackson too. I learned recently that he just retired a couple of years ago. Roosevelt Brown was also a minor le...

He went yard again last night for #13. Only 221 PA’s, .786 OPS. Not bad for a cost controlled 22 yo.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Other than Baez and Willson, it seems the other home grown players have either stalled or regressed since 2016. With the young guys, shouldn’t they be getting better with more reps/experience? Schwarber, Russell, CJ Edwards, Almora, Happ (2017) Maybe I was too optimistic looking forward going into 2...

Pitching wise, Martinez and Reyes have set them back big time. Flaherty is learning/growing but not the #1 type just yet.
