Loving the production out of Schwarber - both offensively and defensively. He's on a mission.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Darvish sucks right now, hopefully he turns it around. I don’t think the Chicago reporters are leading this charge, his performance is.

Yu needs to put his big boy shorts on (or pants, if you don’t like shorts).

anyone order a framed scorecard and actually receive it? I ordered mine in late April and still nothing I did a while ago via eBay and received confirmation it was shipped and never got it. Notified the shipper and he said I’d have it within a couple of days. Never got it. I then reported the guy. ...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

The only trade that bothers me is Q for Eloy/Cease. Theo & Co overvalued Q’s contract. Who else would they have traded for instead? Idk...the only one that jumps at me is Cole. I think Eloy will be much better than Soler.

Re: On Bended Knee - The Rizzo Thread

Rizzo's signed through 2019 to an extremely team friendly contract and he's not giving them a discount next time around. If they don't extend him this offseason, its gonna be an annoying topic in the media all of next year. What is a 30+ HR power 1B entering his 30's worth (years/$)? Big picture, C...

Re: I like Gold Gloves and I cannot lie: the Jason Heyward thread

Is J-Hey unfixable? In looking at bWAR, he finished 2015 with 6.6 WAR with StL and never posted below 3.5 the previous 3 years. He posted a 2.3 bWAR with the Cubs last year. At the time, it was still a good signing by the Cubs based on his age and success, but damn...he can't be this marginal for th...

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado and the Cubs are interested per Gordo

For the record, however, I might be leaning toward the sign Machado instead of Harper bandwagon. I think it certainly should be seriously considered. Bryce is the better player but Machado might be a better fit depending upon on how Russell finishes the year along with the other outfielders. Machad...

Just think how bad it would be if Lester / Yu / Q went down for the year with an injury. We have next to nothing to fill in (Butler and Monty don’t count).

Re: Jake Arrieta Close to Signing with the Phillies

The amount determines the round. If it's over 50 million it's the comp round between round 1 and 2, less than that it's the comp round between rounds 2 and 3. It's the approximate difference in getting pick 33 or 73. Aren’t they receiving the 75th pick (or around that) for Davis, who signed for ove...

Eh, I need to watch it before I say the guy is awful. Might have been trying to work on some pitches or isn't up to full speed yet. I hope he sucks and the Cubs torch him the first chance we get. Yeah it’s ST and his first start so stats are mostly meaningless but that’s a rough debut for a guy who...

Word from the Darvish camp is that he’s holding out for a similar contract that Jimmy G got from the Niners 5/$137.5.

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

I know you're not advocating that he adopt that strategy but man, that seems awfully risky for a dude who's had TJ surgery... Also, count me in the camp that would be totally fine with 5/$125 or whatever. And while I'd obviously prefer not giving a 6-year contract to a 31 year old with a not-100%-c...

I want to side with the players but they’re the dumbasses that agreed to the soft cap, which was never in place previously.
