Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Schwarber had a 1.022 OPS across AA and AAA at age 22 . He hit 16 HRs in 310 PAs, which is a pace of 28.5 for 551 PAs. Schwarber did have an unsustainable BABIP of around .390-.400 though. He then came up and put up a .842 OPS in the majors at 22. Jimenez has a .798 OPS so far this year in around 8...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Adding onto this, the last horsefeathers glove corner outfielder to be a real MVP consideration is probably Jose Bautista? Like you have to be an absolutely incredible hitter to be *THAT* valuable when your defensive value is so limited. I feel like I'm the only one actually looking at Eloy's perfo...

Re: 2019 NBA Offseason

Yeah, I liked Ingram but he can't shoot yet and needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Just look at his numbers when LeBron was healthy vs when LeBron was out. He got way better. He still needs to learn how to shoot better, but he did go from 29% from 3 to 39% from year 1 to year 2 before drop...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

He's got a .303 OBP and a .791 OPS after tonight. Coming into tonight, he's been worth -0.3 bWAR and 0.0 fWAR. At age 22, only 170 PA’s, cost controlled, small sample size... Yeah, plus .313 .421 1.000 in the last week with only a .182(!!!) BAbip, and .294 .368 .647 with a .333. So he’s been great ...

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread

I was thinking the same thing earlier today -- when's the last time the NBA has been this wide open? Probably the lockout year after 98? Post Lakers breakup but before the Celtics got KG and Allen maybe, so 04-07? Mavs, Spurs and Suns were good all three years and Houston won 50+ twice. Those first...

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread

Best I could find, but last year at this time there were 4 or 5 teams (depending on the Lakers) with title odds better than 20-1. This year there are 8. Last year, there were 16 teams with worse than 100-1 odds. This year there are only 9.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread

This offseason is going to be horsefeathering bonkers isn't it? -KD and Klay both can be FAs, but both have injuries that will likely keep them out most or probably all of next year. How will the bidders be effected by this? Will KD opt in? -All those teams that think they are close will obviously ...

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread

So I get that while all the Webber comparisons are good and funny, Green wasn't the only one calling for a timeout (two other players and Kerr were all doing it, too), and it really was the only shot the Warriors had at that point of pulling of a miracle. That said, what IS funny is I think that if...

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread

Congrats to the Raptors. They were the better team all series since Durant was out. They deserved it. Wish they would have won it at home though. Hope Klay isn’t hurt too badly. It’s never good when the knee buckles to the side like his did, though it didn’t seem to be nearly as bad as some we’ve se...

This is an awesome series. it is. i still think gs will win, but i'm not even made about it now. I wouldn't be shocked if the Warriors won but I still think Toronto will get it done. Last night, the Warriors made the second most 3's ever in a finals game (20) while shooting 47.6% from 3 and they ne...

This is a few days old, but I went to a Mexico City baseball game, and Tony Campana misplayed this into an inside-the-park homer, the first in the new Mexico City stadium. https://twitter.com/vertigodeport/status/1134194148997775365 Fun fact: Campana has a .853 OPS in the Mexican League this year. ...

From the ESPN story. Thought this was kind of funny:

According to Dominican National Police Director Ney Aldrin Bautista Almonte, the gunman was captured and beaten by a crowd of people at the bar. Bautista said police are waiting until the man undergoes treatment before questioning him.

Re: 2018-19 NBA Thread

I'm exactly the kind of petty that would enjoy them not winning the 73-9 year and the year to get a 3 peat. This is definitely over, it's not like 3-1 leads ever get blown. It pretty much comes down to Durant. If he comes back, even if he's not fully healthy, the Warriors can definitely win the ser...

Re: Cubs in agreement with Craig Kimbrel 3/$45m

As a person who routinely doesn’t pay enough attention to what’s going on, I thought Kimbrel was coming off an injury and that’s why he hadn’t signed a deal until now. It never ever occurred to me that he could be fully healthy and not find a deal with anyone more than two months into the season. I...

This feels like a perfect time to stump for my idea for indirect free kicks to be given for unintentional handballs like the one today. It deflected off the shoulder first and grazed the arm, it didn't prevent a great chance for Liverpool and another Tottenham player would have ended up with the bal...

Who has done it? What are the services that are good? What are the drawbacks. I'm paying $200/month for cable, and that feels insane. Convince me to do it. The record is 267 which the Yankees set last year.

Even crazier is the Orioles are on pace to allow 347 home runs. The record is 258 by the 2016 Reds. At their current pace, the Orioles will beat it in Game 121.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I’m fine with Chatwood where he is. Still don’t fully trust him. He’s got a 5.13 FIP and a .225 BABIP allowed, and he’s still walking too many, though he’s way better than last year - 5.7 per 9 vs 8.2. He was at 4.2 per 9 in his career before coming to Chicago. His xFIP is only 4.22 and someone smar...
