Re: This is the thread where we talk about how awesome Kris Bryant is

it's kind of worrying that the only remedy we've heard suggested so far is for him to not play baseball. i'd almost feel better if they just said he's going to have surgery in the offseason. Different body part but did Zobrist have any sort of surgery on his wrist in the offseason. He was dealing w...

Re: Cubs get their speedy playoff pinch runner guy

Fun facts:

Terrance Gore has never gotten a hit in the majors. He’s 0-11.
He did walk once and got hit by 2 pitches so he’s got a .214 OBP.
He has scored 14 runs in the majors.
He has 21 career stolen bases.
He has a career OPS+ of -34.

Tommy might not be our best PH option even if he's the only position player left on the bench.

We knew that this could happen, we were just in a little bit of euphoric denial. Pitchers are weird and Epstein especially does not really understand them, especially in comparison to the ridiculous track record this front office has in developing position players. It's just hard not to say "m...

Wasn’t Soler known for hitting the ball really hard? I haven’t taken the time to compare the two as players/prospects so they might be completely different hitters, but I feel like I remember people thinking he’d figure it out in part because of his exit velo. Bote is also more than a complete zero ...

Saw the other day that the Red Sox are the 5th team in the expansion ERA to win 79 of their first 113 games. Through today they're on pace for 114 wins. The most wins through 113 games was the 98 Yankees with 84. They were in the midst of a 9 game winning streak and ended up peaking at 89-29, which ...

Rougned Odor has a career 4.6% walk rate. This year, he’s at 7.1% (before today). Two years ago, he walked 19 times in 632 plate appearances. Today, he had 6 plate appearances and walked in 5 of them. None of them were intentional. In his other PA, he homered. He’s apparently the 4th player ever wit...

Re: Mike Moustaks to the VBs

They're aware there isn't a DH in the NL, right? Aguilar can only play first. Shaw's been playing third and is also a lefty so it's not like they'll be able to run some sort of platoon. He and Moustakas have been pretty similar offensively this year (Shaw walks more) so it's not like they're upgradi...

They also DFA’d Tyler Lyons and sent Brett Cecil to the DL.

This is as good a time as any to remind everyone that the Cards still owe Cecil $15M the next two years.

So the Nats are 50-51. For comparison, last year the Cubs were 54-47 after 101 games and had "woken up", having won 11 of 13. To get 95 wins, they would have to go 45-16, which is a 119 win pace. To get 90 wins, they would have to go 40-21, which is a 106 win pace. To get 87 wins, they wou...

A couple friends and I were outside of a brewery in Portland waiting for a Lyft and this guy walks by with a pet stroller. At first glance, it looks like he has two small dogs in there.
