Re: sometimes deck chairs need to be rearranged

and I'm not confident in this FO being able to adequately address the perpetual pitching issues they're going to have through the next two seasons without trying something/someone new. They seem to very much be trying something(s) and someone(s) new going back ~2 years now with the changes made int...

Re: sometimes deck chairs need to be rearranged

I don't think the strategy to just pile up arms in rounds 2-10 is a bad one. I think the incredibly conservative profile they used to do it for the first x years was the bigger issue.

Are we giving no credit to the Cubs for all the bullpen finds from 2019? They've taken guys that had (at best) iffy results elsewhere and developed them into solid contributors: Rowan Wick Kyle Ryan Alec Mills Brad Wieck Not to mention that Underwood actually looks like he maybe perhaps could final...

I don't remember Sulley as being that much of a hump. In fact, he was "Mr. react to everything in the moment" guy, not "Mr. let's slow down and take the long view" guy Really? I think he still believes the Bears have an elite running game. speaking of which, he still owes me $20

Re: 2019-20 Offseason Rumors/General Chit-Chat

Danny Salazar and Julio Teheran have been added to the FA market. If the money is right, either could be a #5 starter. Are you looking for the Cubs to corner the market on #5’s? Seems like they have enough. They can't afford a #1-4 and don't have a #5 sure thing right now. Can you point to a team w...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

They basically can't properly value him for trade until his service time dispute is resolved. They can't wait for that to happen to decide what to do this off-season. That makes it highly unlikely that he's traded.

This needs to be standard operating procedure for McConnell in any public setting. It sounds dramatic, but that guy has done more to try to destroy our democracy than any American in our history.

Does Murdoch count?

Re: 2020 roster

Marte is a good player, but he's a tough fit on this team. He has a severe and consistent platoon split. Over the last three years, he has a 76 wRC+ against lefties, and a 121 against righties. For reference, Schwarber is at 85 and 120. He was also a really bad CF last year defensively. That doesn'...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

This movie is slated for 2021, 9 years after the last standalone Batman. That's bigger than the gap between the last Clooney movie and the first Bale one. Yeah, but you've also had the two Snyder movies with Batman. For the Batman world, there was a standalone Joker movie, plus two Suicide Squad mo...

Rizzo might have benefited from a couple opposite field shots that would have been warning track in previous years.

Yeah that stretches past the realm of likely limitations the team is going to have, by at least 10 million, I'd say.

It seemed low(ish) cost compared to my last plan with Cole and Donaldson.
