Re: The Cardinals

There also exists a world in which Tommy Pham craters like Josh Harrison and Rizzo and Bryant combine for 3 more wins than 2017(like they did in 2016). I'm gonna write a blog post titled "how close are the Cardinals to the Cubs" and use that reality to conclude the Cubs are about 15 games...

After the success that Romo had in Tampa for the second half, I wonder if we could get him here on a cheap, one year deal.

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

John Harper of the New York Daily News reports that the Yankees' interest in Yu Darvish is "very real." Harper says general manager Brian Cashman thinks they'd be able to sign Darvish at a "reasonable" price due to the stalled free agent market, which is part of the reason they ...

Re: Technology Chit-Chat

Maybe I'm being dense, but what benefit does buying Netflix provide to Apple? Netflix doesn't make money, and any attempt to restrict access to Netflix(to boost iDevice sales) would make that worse on top of being a PR nightmare. They have more money than they know what to do with, part of it could...

Re: Bears 2018 Offseason: Fox Fired

This seems like as good a place as any to accept my loss on that bet with Tim. If the season had ended after the Cincy game the Bears would've been 5th in both yards and YPA but they limped to the finish line hard and ended up 16th in rushing yards and 11th in YPA. Not good. So Tim, PM me your pref...

In this scenario, who are the shortstops that would be available in 2019 that we would have to look at?

Zach Short.

Re: Wade Davis Signs with the Rockies, 3/$52 M

Sorta makes me happy that they landed Chatwood early for reasonable years, despite my concerns on Chatwood. Yes, I was quite pleased with his signing. The concerns about him are valid (the greatest of which for me is health), but the GB% is elite, the spin rate is elite, the curveball was once well...

They're all on Hoth together for like 30 minutes. And if you start at the moment Leia sees Luke in the hallway, they're probably on Bespin together another 20. It's not even a close comparison. Couple that with the fact that Leia/Han was the more interesting dynamic, and sending Luke off on his own...

Just to be a dick about this since I took so much horsefeathers.. Do we have enough of a sample size yet to determine that the Bears don't have an elite rushing game? 11th in YPG 8th in YPC Also lousy in first downs achieved, fumbles lost, touchdowns, etc. Basically by no metric whatsoever have they...

Re: Orioles are shopping Machado - (Cubs in talks per Levine)

At this point (minus a Yelich trade), I'm resigned to them signing Darvish and a couple of relievers and calling it an off-season. Let the progression/regression of Schwarber and Heyward as well as Russell and Baez determine whether Harper or Machado is a bigger need next off-season. Wait...Darvish...

Cafardo said we've had the most substantive talks on Machado. Bringing up Russell, Almora, and Montgomery again. No idea if he was going off the Orioles guy report or if there's more or less to the deal, if anything. Brett brought up an idea of not everyone being involved(obviously) but that maybe ...
