Re: Sports Media Thread

The worst part of talk radio is callers. And that's kinda B&B's favorite schtick. I find it less annoying than the fact that during football season they have a minimum 3 football guests a day - and they all cover the same ground of a terrible Bears team. At least with callers there's a chance t...

Re: Top 108 Moments for the 2016 Cubs (Now at #107)

this is cool and will help bridge the gap of attention i'll sorely need before baseball really gets going again

That Brian Matusz game was the only game I was able to go to this year, and like a ding dong, I left before the come back and victory

Re: Sports Media Thread

Listening to the final show now. B&B were the lifeline that got me through really dull jobs for the past 5 years that also graciously allowed me to listen to the radio. Hope Boers can enjoy sometime in retirement but it doesn't sound good. Bernstein definitely needs a strong personality that can...

Re: We may be signing Uehara?

One of the best things about the 2015 playoffs was Mike Shannon struggling to pronounce Cubs players' names as they dong his team to death. (IIRC he had a "Schwaba" and a "Solar" call) This deal seems fine to me and I overall approve of the Cubs strategy regarding relief pitchers...

Re: Fowler heading to St. Louis for Physical

I love Dex, I would have been fine if they vanity signed him to a stupid big and long contract here, but its also not a great baseball move to sign a 31 year old to a huge contract when a lot of his game relies on athleticism. I am a little bummed that it seems like no matter what we're going to see...

Re: Cubs interested in Wade Davis, deal close?

I was one of Soler's biggest boosters on this board, and I'm ok with this deal. I think we're seeing the front office's philosophy regarding elite relievers play out between this and the Chapman trade: They really don't want to give long deals to relievers. They're more than fine with having stopgap...

Huh, so not a lot changed but some good changes.

I, an actual child, like that the season will start earlier because that means I don't have to wait so long for the season, even if it means the playing conditions in late March/earl April are fraught.

If Terry shows up at one of their remotes I'll consider taking a half day or something and visiting one to say Hi, given how much I've listened to that damn show over the years

Re: Cubs offseason thread

The White Sox making this grand proclamation that they wont trade with the Cubs so epitomizes why that organization is totally adrift, mediocre and myopic. Yes, make some empty gesture that ends up spiting yourself more than anybody else because you're terrified of helping the better organization th...

I really wont believe the White Sox will trade Sale until they do, despite the fact they should have traded him basically at any point in the past few years. I look forward to them trying to reload again and winning 78 games like they always do.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I think Jim Hendry did a bad job and wasn't and will never be a very good executive, but it does give me some warm fuzzies to know he was given credit for getting some of the talent (some very meaningful talent) that led to the World Series.

Re: "horsefeathers looks like The Thing" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

Basically the only thing this season missed was a full season of Schwarber hitting fat dongers the whole time, and he even got a little cameo appearance on the biggest stage. Maybe up to #1 on my list of things to look forward to next season is a full season of Schwarbs. I feel completely convinced ...

Re: Cubs offseason thread

The thing about Chapman's velocity is that it's so ridiculous that he can lose a tick and still be really good. Chapman led pitchers in fastball velocity by 2.4 mph, that's the same as the gap between 2nd and 29th. I know some people will think of Game 7 and get apprehensive, but I don't think that...

Re: 11/2 World Series Game 7 Cubs (Hendricks) @ Cleveland (Kluber) 7:00 CDT Fox

I can completely understand hysterical levels of h8 of Maddon during this game. Games 6 and 7 were easily, EASILY, the worst managed games I've seen him preside over during his Cubs tenure. ...but we still won. I can forgive him when my hangover is gone. Yeah he was really bad the last two games. I...

So I guess that horrendous strikeout he had at the end there to not drive in another run from 3B with 1 out was just to REALLY drive home the point he was making. What a guy! Looking forward to a normal Heyward and Schwarber next season blowing away most team's FA moves. I really like how people ar...

David Ross was the greatest signing in Cubs history, I don't care what anyone says. It was nice of him to bring his pet pitching buddy Lester too I think it's fair to say that most people sort of hated Ross at the start of the season but that, as the season went along, he became more and more likea...

I'm pretty much happy for everyone on this entire team (sans Chapman), they're all great, they've all worked their butts off, but no one worked 6 months to the bone like Schwarber did, incredible

Re: I horsefeathering LOVE YOU THEO

I can't believe how according to plan this whole franchise has gone since 2012. They acquired a bunch of great talent, almost all of it were hits, they made a perennial playoff winner, and then just won it in their second spin of the wheel. Theo and Jed are just flipping birds at the baseball gods a...
