Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Honestly I just think a lot of the time starters just get really tired and once the postseason rolls around they're totally exhausted and facing really good teams

but maybe thats too convenient an explanation

Its only a month into the season, but still, I didn't expect, a month into the season, to have only one starting position player with an OPS+ over 100

He's quietly on a 10 game hitting streak and a 6 game walking streak. He's raised his OPS to the .890s and I didn't even notice.

Re: I like Gold Gloves and I cannot lie: the Jason Heyward thread

Its April 24th and Jason Heyward got his 3rd home run of the season.

He didn't get his 3rd home run until June 6th last year. (He didn't hit his first until May 17th)

Re: There's no tying in baseball!

All of these weird rules they keep trying to put in to increase pace of play are inferior and more drastic than just instituting and enforcing a pitch clock.

Some may feel thats a more fundamental change than the others, but I would welcome it.

I had a hideous Matt Clement beard when I was 22 too so I approve of him just being a silly chubby early 20s guy with terrible sense of style.

I love him.

Re: Sports Media Thread

The worst part of talk radio is callers. And that's kinda B&B's favorite schtick. I find it less annoying than the fact that during football season they have a minimum 3 football guests a day - and they all cover the same ground of a terrible Bears team. At least with callers there's a chance t...

Listening to the final show now. B&B were the lifeline that got me through really dull jobs for the past 5 years that also graciously allowed me to listen to the radio. Hope Boers can enjoy sometime in retirement but it doesn't sound good. Bernstein definitely needs a strong personality that can...

Re: We may be signing Uehara?

One of the best things about the 2015 playoffs was Mike Shannon struggling to pronounce Cubs players' names as they dong his team to death. (IIRC he had a "Schwaba" and a "Solar" call) This deal seems fine to me and I overall approve of the Cubs strategy regarding relief pitchers...

Re: Fowler heading to St. Louis for Physical

I love Dex, I would have been fine if they vanity signed him to a stupid big and long contract here, but its also not a great baseball move to sign a 31 year old to a huge contract when a lot of his game relies on athleticism. I am a little bummed that it seems like no matter what we're going to see...

Re: Cubs interested in Wade Davis, deal close?

I was one of Soler's biggest boosters on this board, and I'm ok with this deal. I think we're seeing the front office's philosophy regarding elite relievers play out between this and the Chapman trade: They really don't want to give long deals to relievers. They're more than fine with having stopgap...

Re: CBA Stuff

Huh, so not a lot changed but some good changes.

I, an actual child, like that the season will start earlier because that means I don't have to wait so long for the season, even if it means the playing conditions in late March/earl April are fraught.
