Re: Trade targets 2019

Sounds like the Castellanos chatter is heating up. He makes some sense, but he seems like a great distillation of what I haven’t liked about most of the Cubs’ trades in recent years. Castellanos can hit, but he’s a DH/bad corner OF. If that profile is what you need, why not try to find someone who ...

Re: Trade targets 2019

I want Puig [emoji2960] He's scorching hot right now leading the NL in wRC+ over the last 30 days (coming into today KB and Heyward were tied for 2nd!). Why not capitalize. He's not platoon dependent. He can play COF well. He should be a relatively cheap rental given his reputation. Get Castellanos...

Re: Trade targets 2019

Since the Giants are apparently never going to lose again, Pillar and the relievers might be coming off the table. I don't get all the interest in Pillar. 30 yrs. old with a career slash of .260/.295/.400/.695 making about $6 million. Almora is making next to nothing is 25 yrs.old and has career nu...

Re: Trade targets 2019

There's no way to get Merrifield unless you're adding 2-3 of our top prospects to that package. 2 weeks ago Happ + Russell + Montgomery + Chatwood for Merrifield + Kennedy. KC saves money and gets 4 younger players to play immediately, while Cubs get 2B/leadoff hitter and dependable relief pitcher....

Re: Trade targets 2019

Schwarber, Russell, Happ, + Chatwood + 1 Iowa Shuttle pitcher for Soler, Diekman, + Kennedy. KC needs 2B, CF, and DH (after trading Soler). Chatwood + Iowa pitcher can vie for rotation spots. Cubs get bullpen help and replacement for Schwarber. Money is fairly neutral making PTR happy. I’ll assume ...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

If Zobrist is due back, it’s gonna have to be soon. He’ll need what - 2 weeks at Iowa to get back in baseball shape? If he’s not on the roster by 9/1 - no playoff roster. We all love Zobrist, but I'm not sure how much he can help the team. He's 38 years old, was terrible early this season, and hasn...

https://www.bleachernation.com/2019/07/12/cubs-were-reportedly-interested-in-eric-sogard-would-they-be-again/ Ah, the gritty, white, journeyman, middle infielder in the midst of a career season. Those always prove to be worthy investments. Bring back Jeff Blauser. [quote="Deeg"]I'd happil...

Re: Trade targets 2019

if they're competing soon, then why wouldn't they just keep the younger/better players? The "younger/better players" are busy having surgeries that have them out for the rest of the season. Right now the WS have 6 pitchers on the IR and who knows whether Rodon and Kopech will come back to...

Re: Trade targets 2019

why would a rebuilding team want to turn assets into something that doesn't fit into their long term plans? They've been more successful than expected and most writers think they will be in the market for a big name FA this winter. It looks like they're looking at 2021 at the latest to be a real co...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Trade targets 2019

He has a 3.81/4.03/4.06 ERA/FIP/xFIP in 191 IP as a SP since joining the Cubs. Ok those are facts. Horrible is too strong of a word. But 191 innings in 38 starts. Hes handled with kid gloves. I guess I just dont see many teams wanting him in the rotation. That is true, no one is clamoring for Monty...

Re: Trade targets 2019

why would the white sox be interested in a 30 year old long reliever who is currently bad? Could stretch him out to be a starter and they would save money. why would a rebuilding team want to turn assets into something that doesn't fit into their long term plans? Re: Trade targets 2019

The D'Backs being open for sale might mean Escobar, Bradley, Ahmed, Marte, Chafin, Dyson, or Ray are available...Ketel Marte or Escobar would look great on this roster, any of those other guys (maybe not Ray) could be useful too Escobar would be way too expensive both in prospects and $$$. Marte is...

Maybe Theo's looking at trading Schwarber.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Yeah I really enjoyed all that contact last night that led to 3-5 double plays. Much preferable to the batter striking out. If only all of those batters would have struck out instead the Cubs probably would have won the game. I mean the odds go up if they do because you know, it’s 1 out vs 2 and gu...

Wow. That's like a Backtobanks bad take... It's a dumb statement because everyone already knows that. No one hires a manager based on childhood allegiance/fanhood. No one cares about that for very obvious reasons. I'm going to stop now because this is a large waste of time lol. Since you brought my...

Wat? When did I say that was something important or valuable? I take it you're not familiar with expressions in English? When someone says "... so that's something " that means it's usually not that important or worthy of much consideration. I was going to say "...so that's something...

Also, he's playing on a team that can allow him time to grow and he's playing in a league that uses the ...
