Re: Cubs trade Eloy, Cease, others for Quintana

Obviously, the Cubs needed pitching when they made the trade, but Eloy will always be valuable as long as the DH exists. Also, Schwarber was pretty bad in the OF at the start of his career. Can Eloy improve defensively? I doubt it, but he's a monster with the bat.

Re: Jose Martinez traded to Cubs

Martinez is controlled for 2-3 more years, if the DH is here to stay he does have some value of what he is this year isn’t the new norm. He just turned 32 and last year he only managed a 101 wRC+, hard to be very confident of much future value since he is poison with a glove in his hand. If we are ...

Agreed. Now if only we could figure out who to give it to.

We're last in the NL for strikeouts, so maybe some of our bats might be defective.

The way this year has gone for Quintana, he might be in our price range as a FA.

Find a new ownership group that would make an offer that PTR couldn't refuse.

As long as we're having reunions, I wouldn't mind having LaStella coming off the bench as a PH in a critical situation.

Re: 2020 Trade Deadline Targets/Rumors

What about Wilmer Flores? He's got a career .505 SLG/.227 IsoSLG/.824 OPS against LHP

I thought we should have signed him as a FA in 2019. Of course, we wouldn't have seen the amazing feats of Descalso, Kemp, Garcia, and Perez then.

Re: Update the Cardinals in hell graphic

I'm curious if the league is going to really commit to winning percentage determing playoff spots if there's a massive games played discrepancy. Like if the Cubs go 37-23 (.617), and the Cards go 25-15 (.625), are you *really* going to give the Cards the division? The Marlins are leading the N.L. E...

Yeah, you would hate to lose a game using your 7th best pitch while trying to fool a batter.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Latest Forbes report says Cubs are worth $3.2 Billion, not a bad return on spending $845 million in 2009. So why did we have to sit out this offseason free agency? There are many ways to answer your question, but the $3.2B figure isn't the best. It's not a "return," it's a valuation. A si...

Why not?

Because a pre-injured pitcher who hasn't even been good yet is a terrible start to a Kris Bryant trade

The Cubs love to shop in the pre-injured pitcher aisle at the store.

Re: 2019-20 Offseason Rumors/General Chit-Chat

With all the SP injuries to the Yankees and Angels coupled with the inevitable move to get under the LT, I’d wonder what Q could bring back. It seems like we talked about it all offseason and the Cubs FO just didn’t get substantial offers to move anyone, but there’s a lot of urgency from teams. Jet...
