Re: Summer Camp 2020

Just video game your way through this season. I think that's the closest we're gonna get. Really don't see how we manage to have any sports in 2020.

Re: Summer Camp 2020

I'd prefer a three headed monster of Cotton/Mills/Alzolay over Chatwood. I just don't think he is gonna get the job done as a fifth starter. Maybe they'll do a piggyback situation.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I don't think about Minch much but it does reflect the (understandable) frustration among minor leaguers, especially now with the MiLB season cancelled.

Re: Summer Camp 2020

One important member of the Cubs organization won’t be anxiously awaiting the results of his test. Pitching coach Tommy Hottovy has already endured a bout with COVID-19, he tells 670 The Score’s Mully and Haugh (h/t Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, via Twitter). While Hottovy is no longer posi...

Re: Summer Camp 2020

Different teams took differing approaches, with the Cubs among those wary of getting stuck with an over-stuffed 60-man unit. Hoyer says the Cubs elected to leave so many openings now to remain nimble as an unusual season unfolds. The idea is to have capacity to add depth as needed in a 60-game spri...

Re: MLB Imposes 60 Game Season, Spring Training 2.0 Starts in 7 Days

So Schwarbs is gonna DH right? Or Souza because we don't know how his legs will hold up?

I know we "don't have money" but having the DH now and a shortened season REALLY makes me wanna sign Piug.

Puig-Happ-Heyward in the OF with Souza and Almora backing up, Schwarber full time DH.

Re: 2020 MLB Actual Draft Day(s) Thread

Phillies just nabbed a local prep kid out of Ocean City NJ high school, Jake McKenna, BA's 434th ranked prospect in the Draft. He got the maximum $20k. Gonna be interesting to see how many high school seniors take a deal.

Re: 2020 MLB Actual Draft Day(s) Thread

Graham Lawson was an 12th round pick 2 years ago by the Nats.

McKeon was a 21st rounder last year.

Small sample size but Leeper struck out 14 in just 7 innings this spring.

Re: 2020 MLB Actual Draft Day(s) Thread

So I could probably look this up but I'm lazy: how much do we have allotted to sign UDFAs? And how many do you think we'll sign? And how long will the process take. I get this is all new but in the NFL Draft, there's like a mad rush to sign guys in the 2-3 days after.

Re: 2020 MLB Actual Draft Day(s) Thread

From different discussion board: Lifted this from the Cubs Draft Tracker guy re. Koen Moreno, the HS 5th rounder. Gave an interview with a local podcast guy. Q: Do you have an idea if you're gonna if you're gonna pick between heading to college VCU and signing with the Cubs? A: Yeah, so I mean, it'...

Re: 2020 MLB Actual Draft Day(s) Thread

So it seems like we did pretty well? Early to tell but some high upside prospects and a couple power arms to energize the system.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I just noticed in Baseball Reference's 2020 season simulation, we're in dead last at 27-43 and have traded Quintana to the Rays for Kevin Kiermeier and prospect Taj Bradley. We also sign Bryant to a 4 year, $100 mil extension.

The Indians drafted pitcher Logan Allen. They already have a pitching prospect named Logan Allen. That won't be confusing.

Re: Offseason Top Prospect Lists

I'm surprised by a bit of that. Reivaj has some big upside and he's buried on the list. Tyson Miller is a low ceiling/high floor guy but only at 30? Martinez and Verdugo and Keegan and Ademan and Gallardo in the 20s? Hunter Bigge higher than them? Manuel Rodriguez at 34?

Re: 2020 MLB Actual Draft Day(s) Thread

I haven't followed too closely but it seems like Hendrick or Mitchell is the most mocked pick but over the past few seasons have the mocks actually been correct on what we do? I feel like no one had us taking Jensen last year. Just curious where they go. And what is post Round 5 gonna look like? A f...

Charcer Burks, minor league gold glover. Galindo has been in the system forever. Thought Jake Stinnett would be something.

Cubs release 30 players

7:16pm: There are minor league cuts happening across baseball, and though the Cubs’ full list isn’t out yet, right-hander Brock Stewart and utilityman Carlos Asuaje are among the players they have released. Stewart announced his fate on Twitter, while Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reported on Asua...
