Re: 2020 Offseason Thread

Reds and Rockies swapped NT candidate relievers, Hoffman and Stephenson...Hoffman's a Driveline guy and one of those cautionary tales that TJ surgery isn't some automatic fix, might have been an interesting buy low candidate but I don't really see this as a buy low trade I'm not going to hold out m...

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread

Renato Nunez a surprising non tender by the Orioles considering he isn't that expensive and as a power bat who isn't useless defensively could prob have been a trade candidate at the very least.

Rule 5 Draft

The deadline to protect players is tonight. As always, AZ Phil has the goods https://www.thecubreporter.com/2020-rule-5-draft/0 Abbott and Morel are good calls on being added. I'd also like to see Duncan Robinson, Keegan Thompson, Dakota Mekkes added. I def think we're losing an upper level reliever...

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread

Maybe I'm being naive but I don't think they NT Schwarbs and they hang onto KB at least for now given his stock is so low. I'm expecting them to trade Contreras for prospects and salary relief though and let Caratini take over until Amaya is ready in two years. I could see them spinning Kimbrel's se...

Re: 2020 Offseason Thread

An old friend on the move

The Giants agreed to terms with third baseman Jason Vosler on a Major League contract, the team announced. Their 40-man roster now has two open spots.

That trade looks even better for us. I was bummed we dealt Vosler at the time but Wick is our best reliever.

Re: Andrew Chafin traded to Cubs

The Diamondbacks and Cubs have completed the pre-trade deadline deal that sent left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin to Chicago for a player to be named later. The D-backs have acquired infielder Ronny Simon for Chafin, Arizona announced. Still just 20 years old, the switch-hitting Simon tore the cove...

Re: [expletive] [expletive] Osuna available

I'd rather have Brad Hand if we're going high leverage reliever. At least Hand isn't a known piece of horsefeathers.

2020 Offseason Thread

Let's get horsefeathering wild. What do you do? Sign JBJ and LeMahieu. Add to the pen, some good relievers on the market. I'm honestly fine with the rotation including Yu, Hendricks, Alzolay and Mills but really need a good No. 3 starter. Revamp the bench. Give Nico a little more time in the minors....

Damn, didn't realize it was COVID related. That sucks. Always seemed like a good dude. And that's one of my favorite baseball cards of ever. I remember reading his book in high school, was entertaining stuff.

Re: Jose Martinez traded to Cubs

That's a bummer. More than I thought we'd give up. At the same time, he's super far from the majors and anything can happen. And as others have said, Jose Martinez still has control and can be used as DH/solid bench bat for the next two seasons (not that he's shown that so far in limited time with u...

I haven't been watching the games, is Martinez just unlucky? No hits in 14 at bats but only 3 Ks.

Kinda surprised by Sadler but he hadn't pitched well recently. I liked getting him in the offseason. Oh well. Maybe he'll sneak through and can hang out in South Bend.

Zach short? Gross. I know he's not a big prospect but he's good infield depth and we traded him for an old meh backup
