Re: Cubs get their speedy playoff pinch runner guy

Including the playoffs, he's 0-for-11 with 16 runs scored and 25 stolen bases.

Maybe he gets a couple at bats in September but that doesn't really matter. Having a speedy threat on the bases will be a nice luxury in the playoffs.

Re: Regular Season Rumors

Odd trade. They get a good bench bat but give up an interesting young arm. Bour has nowhere to play really. Santana at first, Franco at 3rd, Hoskins and Nick Williams on the corners. Certainly gives them good insurance/offense off the bench though. They also DFA'd Jake Thompson and I wouldn't mind g...

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

Jared Young and Erick Leal were named the July minor league player and pitcher of the month, respectively. https://twitter.com/cubs/status/1026151045494439936?s=21 Remember how we got Leal for Tony Campana? Classic. Now that's he's back from injury, how does he look as a prospect? I know he hasn't ...

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

I can't say I really like this quote from Kohl Franklin btw: I feel like I am 10 times younger than everyone, and it’s just a culture change honestly. There’s a whole lot of Latin Americans on the team, different than what I’m used to. Doesn't mean he's racist, but it certainly doesn't sound great....

Re: Regular Season Rumors

The Nationals just DFAd Shawn Kelley for throwing his glove after giving up a home run. What a joke.

Re: Cubs Trade for Brandon Kintzler

I like it, depending on the prospect.

He's not flashy or exiting but gets results. The fact that he gets groundballs and soft contact really helps with our defense. Also nice that he has a low walk rate, considdering some of our other pitchers.....

Re: Regular Season Rumors

Remember when people wanted Wisler? The Braves have acquired outfielder Adam Duvall from the Reds in exchange for a trio of players, all of whom have MLB experience. Cincinnati receives righties Lucas Sims and Matt Wisler along with outfielder Preston Tucker. In other news, the Yanks traded Tyler Au...

Re: Sources: Cubs have a deal in place for Cole Hamels

That's a pretty fair deal. Butler is whatever and one of Rob Z/Underwood/Mills could replace his production (heck Farrell and Bass were doing just that while he was on the DL). Lacy is having a nice year but we have other pitchers similar to him so he's not a big loss. I'd still like to add another ...

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

The in-laws live in Reading and surprised me with Reading Phillies tickets yesterday for my birthday. Got to see them play New Hampshire, so I got to see Vlad Jr in the flesh. Dude is massive. Made some nice plays in the field too. The top three hitters in their order were Bichette's kid, Biggio's k...

Our peeress leader deserves a shiny new Clayton Richard on this day.

I really wanted an Eovaldi.

Same. I figured he was ours if we really wanted him. And the return wasn't that great.

Re: Familia to mystery team (not Cubs)

So is this similar to a Maples and Vosler package? A little less considering the int'l money? Trying to see if this is about what we could expect to give up for Britton. Seemed like the Mets didn't get a great return but the O's aren't exactly well run either.

Re: Familia to mystery team (not Cubs)

In a trade that has been widely expected since last night, the Athletics have officially acquired right-hander Jeurys Familia from the Mets. In exchange, the Athletics have sent a pair of minor leaguers back to New York: third baseman William Toffey and right-hander Bobby Wahl. The Mets will also r...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Duensing seems like a nice guy and was great last year but how much longer do we have to watch him go out there this year before we DFA him? The phantom injury DL trip didn't work.
