Re: 2017 Post-Season Prospect Rankings (BA, Fangraphs, BP)

No Mekkes?

And it's still crazy to see Underwood and Galindo on this list. Feels like they've been in the system forever. Probably says more about the system than it does about them.

Re: 2018 Cubs ZiPS Projections

How does Roster Resource calculate their projections? Because it looks like we're gonna win 100 games easily if everybody hits like they predict:

Re: Offseason Transactions

What are the Rays doing? That's all they got for Odorizzi? And basically replacing Dickerson with Cron? I know odorizzis name had come up here a few times and most people were against the idea, but if I recall it was mostly because they didn't want to give up what they assumed Tampa would want for ...

Re: Offseason Transactions

There’s “momentum” toward a deal that would bring infielder Eduardo Nunez back to the Red Sox, according to MLB.com’s Ian Browne (via Twitter). Indeed, the organization “could be close” to striking a deal with the versatile veteran. 5:29pm: The sides have a deal in place pending a physical, per Rob...

Gotta give the Orioles credit, they've managed to stay mostly competitive while being inept at building a steady rotation for several years.

I remember wanting him a couple years ago. Throws hard, has posted good numbers in the minors and in his brief time in the majors. Health is the big concern, obviously.

I'd rather go with Zagunis/Hannemman/Bourjus as the extra OF rather than spend money on Jay. Also, why? I am v. pleased. That's a good deal. Not thrilled with going 6 years but if there are opt-outs and it's front loaded, that makes it better.

Insane that this is the market. Last year he would've gotten at least twice that much.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

38-year-old former Tigers starter Andy Van Hekken is attempting to earn a job with an MLB club, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press writes. He pitched 30 innings in 2002 (yup, 2002), and that is the extent of his MLB experience. His numbers in the KBO the past few years haven't been too bad. Y...

Something has to give soon right? Don't pitchers and catchers report in like 2 weeks? Half the market is still unsigned.

Hey, I wanted them to get him.....5 years ago!

Still, a cheap, serviceable outfielder who plays good defense and isn't useless with the bat. Not a bad 5th-6th outfielder option.

Yeah, the Astros though are an interesting trade partner because they have a full rotation. Guys like McHugh and Peacock are currently slated for the pen. I wonder what it would cost to get either of them.

Yeah I listened to an interview Theo gave about a year ago, and he credits Kevin Towers a lot for teaching him about how a FO works and giving him a chance. Lots of people inside the game liked the guy.

Yeah I heard that too. Seemed like a good guy.

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

Would it be odd or a waste of resources to go full time 6 man rotation? Or rotate Monty and Chatwood out of the 5 spot? I'm just trying to think of ways to maximize depth and help with health and injuries.
